Prairiehammer Posted May 11, 2015 #26 Posted May 11, 2015 Yessir, you are quite correct. A closer look revealed The Pile brake switch has 4 wires at the connector. I only quickly looked while breaking it down and noticed the wire bundle sheaths, not the connectors. That four wire MKII brake switch with the 'noise filter' is a valuable item; it is not available any longer (obsolete) and last retailed for US$188. Make sure you save it! Someone will want one someday. Same thing for the clutch switch; obsolete with a last retail of US$65.

I was planning on attempting to swap the venture cruise from The Pile to the 83. Only problem is the guy i bought The Pile from sold the throttle cables on me and ruined the junction box. The whole bike is so hacked and I got so ripped off, I just don't want to look at it anymore for a while. The Pile is all in pieces now anyways (it's on shelves up in the parts loft) and the frame is out at the corner for garbage pickup.

The Second Gen Venture 1999-2013 uses the same junction box for the throttle cables and cruise cable. The junction box is not sold as a complete assembly, but the individual parts, including the housings and the rotors are still available new. And of course, there are a lot more available as used for Second Gen. Throttle cables are different but the junction box is the same. Just a FYI. Edited May 11, 2015 by Prairiehammer

I was looking a them on eBay and wondering if they would work. thing is though, I may not even try to put the cruise on now. The 83 is so cherry and the 86 is so hacked, I'm thinking I might just stay with the super vista throttle lock that's already on there. I may try and salvage the air ride though, mainly just for the adjustability from the saddle. Audio stuff is going to be all sold off or scrapped I think. this is turning into a thread hijack so I'll respectfully stop here.
dna9656 Posted May 11, 2015 #30 Posted May 11, 2015 I don't think it's a bad idea but on the other hand, it's not that hard to find specific articles in the Read Only Technical Libraries. A glossary would certainly add to it and I'm not against it, just not sure that I will take the time to do it. Are you volunteering? "it's not that hard to find specific articles in the Read Only Technical Libraries" that's true Sometimes the info isn't in the tech lib.....I have searched (using the seach engine) and get articles that contain the searched for words; but that doesn't usually (in my exp.) get you what you're looking for.
tankerman Posted May 12, 2015 #31 Posted May 12, 2015 If possible replace the single caliber fronts with dual caliber fronts then replace the rubber hose with ss hoses. more aggressive pads are sure to help as well. Start with that and see what it does, it might be all you need.
