BMW Posted January 9, 2007 #1 Posted January 9, 2007 A HUGE THANK YOU! To everyone who purchased this spacer. I assume all are satisfied with it, your feedback/comments in the classified ad would be greatly appreciated. As much as I hated to do it, I had to increase the price by $5. I lost my connection for aluminum and cheap shipping rates. Bill W.
FreezyRider Posted January 9, 2007 #2 Posted January 9, 2007 Glad I bought when I did....saved myself some money! The spacer works great. Makes it so much easier to get the front half of the fairing off.
Mean Dog Posted January 9, 2007 #3 Posted January 9, 2007 Hey Bill, Yep, the spacer worked great and I love the look of it on the bike. I hope I don't have to split the fairing for awhile but, it will come off now without moving the passing lamps. It is a great product and it was a pleasure doing business with you! Dog
2Whlsrollin Posted January 10, 2007 #4 Posted January 10, 2007 Bill, I'm Interested in getting a spacer. Let me know the details of how to go about it. Thanks
mm482 Posted January 11, 2007 #5 Posted January 11, 2007 Hi Bill, I just bought one and waiting for it to arrive. Hope I can get it put on next week. Earl Ebay Ola7916 86 VR 00 RSV
Monsta Posted January 11, 2007 #6 Posted January 11, 2007 How the heck do you get the stock Allen bolts out to mount the spacer?? I've had this spaer for some time now and just cannot get a wrench in there to loosen the bolts.
Freebird Posted January 11, 2007 #7 Posted January 11, 2007 I found that the easiest way is to pick up a set of ball end allen wrenches.
bikerjohn Posted January 12, 2007 #9 Posted January 12, 2007 I am going to add passing lights shorty, what does the spacer do and how can I aquire one? How much? Bikerjohn
sarges46 Posted January 12, 2007 #10 Posted January 12, 2007 BMW sells em http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=211&cat=7 They are on my new bike and it moves the passing lights away from the fairing just enough so you dont have to remove the lights to split the fairing.

Barry
MAINEAC Posted January 28, 2007 #12 Posted January 28, 2007 Hi Bill, Thanks for the spacer... I got it and it looks nice. I'm waiting for it to warm up a little. I got a lot of work to do yet on my bike.. I bought the Roadliner driving lights 2 bulbs in each and I gotta figure how to get them wired up. Thanks again,
jcain Posted January 28, 2007 #13 Posted January 28, 2007 Hey Bill, I am in need of one of your spacers. Gotta complete all the bike projects before riding time starts. Can you PM me some details? Thanks a bunch. Cheers, John
Carbon_One Posted January 28, 2007 #14 Posted January 28, 2007 I've got one on order and am awaiting it's arrival anytime as well. I'm sure that Bill's spacer is well worth it's costs even with the price increase. From the looks of it and the reports from others I just know it'll be top quality too. I know I could have made one but why reinvent the horse. Besides it does help another member here and I have enough going in my shop. Larry
Freebird Posted January 28, 2007 #15 Posted January 28, 2007 So what are you guys doing about the lower air deflectors? I know that if the rubber stop is not up against the forks, they will reverberate and break the brackets.
MAINEAC Posted January 28, 2007 #16 Posted January 28, 2007 I took my deflectors off 2 years ago... IMO they look cheesy and just clutter up the front along with the reflectors.
Carbon_One Posted January 28, 2007 #17 Posted January 28, 2007 So what are you guys doing about the lower air deflectors? I know that if the rubber stop is not up against the forks, they will reverberate and break the brackets. Good question and never even thought of that. I lost a rubber bumper on one of my lowers, haven't replaced it yet but so far haven't had and problems with the lower cracking or breaking. Probably only a matter of time you think? Larry
Freebird Posted January 29, 2007 #18 Posted January 29, 2007 Yes...I would say that it's definitely a matter of time. Shouldn't be too hard though to build a stand off.
BuddyRich Posted January 29, 2007 #19 Posted January 29, 2007 I have an 05 and the rubber bumpers. They both have cracked and I had to weld one, the other is about to go. Think they need to redesign this still.
venturekid Posted January 29, 2007 #20 Posted January 29, 2007 Definately one of the better mods I put on our 2nd Gen ... well worth the money (I got the cheaper rate), even with the $5 increase. Just try splitting the fairing once with the passing lights already installed. Talk about a royal pain in the butt. You would never want to do it more than once. (One & half hours to split + skinned knuckles verses 10 minutes and skin remains undamaged)
kbran Posted March 7, 2007 #21 Posted March 7, 2007 Got my lights installed yesterday. Thanks Bill, great product.
HORSE-USMVMC Posted March 7, 2007 #22 Posted March 7, 2007 Added A Spacer Last Year To My Scoot. To Stabilize The Deflector I Added A Piece Of Gas Line Which Fit Over The Rubber Bumper And Rtv It In Place So It Contacts The Fork Tube. This Took The Vibration Out Of The Air Deflector. I Have About 15k On Bike Since Then And No Problems.
KeithR Posted March 7, 2007 #23 Posted March 7, 2007 I just installed my spacer and I also had a couple of S.S. plates made so I could put the air deflectors back close to where they were. Not sure how clear the pic will be. Keith
Tartan Terror Posted March 7, 2007 #24 Posted March 7, 2007 I been think about using one of these but I have a tool bag on my front forks and it hangs on the passing light bar. How much closer to the front fender does the bar get. Dont want the bag bouncing off my fender.
Guest medalhead01 Posted March 7, 2007 #25 Posted March 7, 2007 BMW...are you going to Ft. Collins and if so are you going to be bringing any spacer with you. You could sell some there.
