Well this morning at 10:00, 38 degrees f. Road my buddies V*1100 Custom into our local dealer to see about trading (he's got a broken arm). Hopped on that thing and it felt like I was on a mini bike with my knees up around my chin :confused24:. It has a Mustang seat that really pushed me forward, No shield either. Froze my face off before I got the 6 miles to the Dealer. Made me sooooooooooooo glad I have a venture with all the protection. Did kind of like the light feel, but wasn't all that much better than the RSV.

Well he ended up making a deal on a new Black 07 V* 1300 Tourer. Seems like it will be a nice bike. Thank goodness I didn't have to ride the old one home. He should have his cast off when its time to pick it up as he's getting some extras installed too.

hey hope he got a good deal as most dealers cant give the 1300 Vstars away i have seen them go cheaper than a used 1100 classic a new one should be around 7000. out the door or less and if i was looking id stick to the LESS side

I don't know about the vstars, but I got on my buddy's ultra classic the other day and I felt the same way. Way too cramped, and not comfortable at all.

My wife rides a V Star 1100 Classic. It's just the right size for her. I'll get on it once in a while just to make sure everything is operating okay, and I always feel like I'm on a moped. But is the V Star 1300 really any bigger?

Seems like it is. I know its seems like its longer and feels more beefy. I think too, with the floorboards the leg room is better.

I didn't ask him, but he felt he did. He is getting the tourer with windshield and leather covered hard bags.

My boss has a 1100 as well and I rode it once last year and I have to say its well balanced but it feels like a little bike to me and I gotta have the fairing & windshield for sure got spoil to that very much.

I wonder why that is...the new 1300's are fuel injected, water cooled, belt drive, bigger bikes with a nicer seating and foot platform...and the oil filter on the 1300 is in the right place. The professional reviews I have read related to this bike have all been quite favorable.

Is there some problems with the new 1300's? How come the heavy discounting on this model?

The 1300 is a good bike, bike sales are slow for everybody, Yamaha built too many, some dealers are overstocked with leftovers and some are not. I'm sure he will enjoy it. :080402gudl_prv:

I think he will too. He has been slowly moving up. When we first met through our wives and kids he had a V*650, then to the 1100, now to the 1300. This will be his first bike with a OEM shield setup and bags. He would like to do some trips with me but he has never really had a bike to do it. This should put him closer. I'll be interested to see how the 1300 twin stacks up agains my RSV V4. May just have to race. Of course if I had a 1st Gen there would be no doubt about which was faster according to folks here, who I have no reason to doubt.

Yep, it sure gets cold quick when your doing 50mph and dont have a windshield when its that cold. I dont even want to ride a bike with ot a windshield anymore.

I remember two yrs ago, I rode to the SC M&E in Bishopville, and it was 25 degrees..

I wasnt 30 miles from my house on my way there and was asking myself what in Gods name am I doing out here on this thing..but I kept going.. and I froze my a.. off...

But hey, it was 29 degrees on the return trip.. heat wave..:thumbsup2:

hey jay, he will love that 1300. yamaha got it right the first time around. it does everything exactly right. almost sportbike handling, very powerful and fast, good looks, great mileage, and ultra comfortable, feels very light and nimble at low speed, and sits low. bad points, bars to short for some, and valves a bear to adjust. :2133:
