ReinyRooster Posted April 30, 2015 #1 Posted April 30, 2015 Electrical stuff is not my strong suit......alright.....let's say I'm about as good with electrical stuff as I would be preforming brain surgery. I have an alarm system that I bought for the bike....not about to debate whether I need it or not......I park my bike at work near a courthouse.....too many idiots wanna play with the bike, including one mother who thought her kids should be able to climb all over it!! Anyway.......was hoping someone in the K-W area would have an evening free once that could assist me in installing the alarm system. I will supply the cold beverages......only 1 if you're driving. Thanks.
XV1100SE Posted April 30, 2015 #2 Posted April 30, 2015 Pretty sure between the two of us we could figure it out. The more the merrier so if anyone else wants to join they are more than welcome I'm sure !
ReinyRooster Posted May 1, 2015 Author #4 Posted May 1, 2015 Appreciate it guys....hoping one night next week maybe. I'll check in with you at the beginning of the week....see what the weather looks like.
saddlebum Posted May 1, 2015 #5 Posted May 1, 2015 Cant do weekdays cause I work nights but I could ride out on a weekend day to give a hand.
Marcarl Posted May 1, 2015 #6 Posted May 1, 2015 Well now,, let's get that machine where we got some room,,, looks like a lot of bodies are going wiggling their way into place to perform surgery. Lots of room here, tools, wires, connectors, battery charger, and even some left over paint in-case somebody makes a mark that the Rooster shouldn't see.
dacheedah Posted May 1, 2015 #7 Posted May 1, 2015 Carl, please post video. I haven't been a witness to "all the wiggling" for a while
Marcarl Posted May 1, 2015 #8 Posted May 1, 2015 Ahhhhh guess you've never met the Rooster,,, it's a sight to behold I tell ya,,,,,won't fit on a video,,,,the speed is just not fast enough and the resolution is not near what it needs to be,,,, it's just something you only have the privilege of if you are present in person, and then only if you have both eyes on the go so to speak. Wanta come???
jimmy99 Posted May 1, 2015 #9 Posted May 1, 2015 .....too many idiots wanna play with the bike, including one mother who thought her kids should be able to climb all over it!! People are idiots... Hey there mom, this is not playground equipment! Go amuse your brats somewhere else! Too bad you couldn't wire the bike to give them a shock like an electric fence. That would solve the problem and be entertaining. A bike cover might help too with the other courthouse idiots, outa sight, outa mind.
ReinyRooster Posted May 1, 2015 Author #10 Posted May 1, 2015 Carl.....you are one smooth-tongued devil.....LOL! Appreciate the invitation.....I'll see if the "pit crew" wants to make the trek to your place or stay in Kitchener........ Jimmy99....love the idea of the shock treatment....laughing just thinking about how entertaining that would be to watch....problem with the bike cover is my employer is a bit anal is some resects and even gave me a hard time for not displaying the parking permit on the bike, until I had to explain that it would then grow legs and walk away. The compromise is that the parking enforcement people be able to see the bike to recognize it....ya I know......:bang head:
Flyinfool Posted May 1, 2015 #12 Posted May 1, 2015 I just gots to git me a passport one of these days........
saddlebum Posted May 1, 2015 #13 Posted May 1, 2015 I just gots to git me a passport one of these days........You keep saying that but saying it ain't gett'n it done.
Flyinfool Posted May 1, 2015 #14 Posted May 1, 2015 You are correct sir...... Maybe I can sneak up there and nail your back door shut. It's still cold here.........
ReinyRooster Posted May 3, 2015 Author #15 Posted May 3, 2015 O.K. guys...looks like the best night for weather is Wednesday night if that works for everyone. Carl.....that good for you? If so, Don......wanna meet at the Timmie's by Connestogo college and ride over together? 6:30ish?
Marcarl Posted May 4, 2015 #16 Posted May 4, 2015 Sorry Reiny,, Wednesday night is Bike Night around here,,, has been for years,,,,, which means that Wednesday nights is dedicated to things that pertain to bikes,,,, now what is it that you wanted?????
ReinyRooster Posted May 4, 2015 Author #17 Posted May 4, 2015 Hey guys.....my home computer is acting up and I think I have to reformat the hard drive and of course, re-install everything so I may be off line for a day or two. I'm at work right now but can't get on here much from work. Can we take this offline and use my email address of: reinyrooster@hotmail.com Thanks
XV1100SE Posted May 4, 2015 #18 Posted May 4, 2015 Sorry Reiny,, Wednesday night is Bike Night around here,,, has been for years,,,,, which means that Wednesday nights is dedicated to things that pertain to bikes,,,, now what is it that you wanted????? So if Wednesday is "Bike Night" and Reiny wants to install an alarm on his BIKE.... doesn't that count as something to do on "Bike Night" ? Reiny - How involved is the alarm installation? If we left the Tim's at Homer Watson/401 at 6:30pm we wouldn't be to Carl's until 7pm. Need time to take things apart, run wires, tie into power, figure out where to put the alarm unit, figure out how to put things back together...decide if spare parts are important or not..... If Carl is saying that Wednesday is "RIDE Night" and not "work on bikes night" then maybe all of us could make arrangements to meet somewhere (St. George Tim Horton's?), have a coffee, review the instructions for the alarm, and make a plan on how-to and when-to do the install. Reiny and I (with our better halves) could meet at Tim Horton's on Home Watson/401 and work our way to St. George. Carl and whoever chooses to ride with him could meet us at 8pm in St. George. That work?
ReinyRooster Posted May 4, 2015 Author #19 Posted May 4, 2015 Guys.....if Carl's isn't going to work, is there anyone that not going to Carl's that could do this at my place Wednesday night? Don't know much about electrical but I'm thinking this can't be that big a project. I have probably all the tools required other then if anyone has any good connectors for something like this.
Marcarl Posted May 4, 2015 #20 Posted May 4, 2015 Hey, for me Carl's works just fine,, after all, it's bike night and bike night is bike night,,,, we ride on bike night and we fix on bike night,,, it's just whatever we decide to do on bike night. It's just that it's not a night for anything else,,, just bikes!! It is a bike you want fixed right?
Marcarl Posted May 4, 2015 #22 Posted May 4, 2015 Don,, your email got sent back as well,,, it's the one I got in my address book.
XV1100SE Posted May 5, 2015 #23 Posted May 5, 2015 Don,, your email got sent back as well,,, it's the one I got in my address book. Sent you an email. I changed my personal email address a couple months ago. It is up to date on vr.org....just not in your little black book.
XV1100SE Posted May 5, 2015 #24 Posted May 5, 2015 Guys.....if Carl's isn't going to work, is there anyone that not going to Carl's that could do this at my place Wednesday night? Don't know much about electrical but I'm thinking this can't be that big a project. I have probably all the tools required other then if anyone has any good connectors for something like this. Either place is fine with me. Just say when and where. If at your place...you'll need : - soldering iron and solder - wire stripper - wire cutter - electrical tape - allen keys (to get into the fairing and under the seat) - wire - black and red...14 guage for power I would guess - coffee - more coffee - possibly ice cream if Carl comes over
thecount Posted May 7, 2015 #25 Posted May 7, 2015 So did this get installed or not? Cause Bike Night tonight sounds like too many Ride Captains and not enough follower so make this happen today. Reiny, What unit did you get? I have the Scorpion on my '05 scooter and was fairly simple to install, providing you purchase the Yamaha wire harness connection. If I can help or use my bike to check on set up, let me know.
