Always wanted to use that word in a sentence.. :biker: So Marcarl and I went for a very nice ride this evening. Clear skys and no winds with just the right amount of crispness to the air for full leathers to be comfortable.. Even had an ice cream stop.. BUT I totally believe that EVERY farmer in Southern Ontario is spreading SH$T right now. Sometimes it is so strong it brings tears to your eyes and you cannot breathe..

All in all a good ride and nice to be out and about.. Like Therapy..

When I was in the USAF in Oklahoma, we lived like 7-10 miles north of a cattle feed lot. OH my in summer when that $#it wouls cook in 100+ degree days and the wind blew the wrong way....... Or you had to ride by going out of town past it. So I have a pretty good idea what your sayin.

Had that experience last weekend heading up to the cottage.......spreading the liquid manure......literally almost gagged.....used to farm smells but wow, this was over the top.

Well it just shows how some people don't appreciate the farmer.

Let's see what he's up to. All winter long he has tried his best to produce tasty steaks, clean milk, out-of-this-world cheese, lean chicken breasts, cheap chicken legs, tasty wings, lean burgers,,, but not for MacDonalds,,,, roasts of every size and shape, products for lip-stick, eye shadow and perfume, leather for your riding gear and shoes and car seats, products for drugs and other health care, and even bacon, ham, and pork chops.

What you were smelling was the result of preparation for the production of, corn flakes, ketchup, relish, bread, buns, cooking oils, relish, onions, corn on the cob, canned corn, canned vegetables, cucumbers, tires, drugs, diapers, depends (now that is something you could be happy about), spark plugs, plastics, toothpaste, windex, soap, waxed paper, waxed cardboard, drywall, adhesives, peanut butter and ice-cream,,,, along with a whole bunch of other stuff that maybe would surprise you.

Fact is, if the farm produced ingredients were taken out of your life today, you would be standing around naked, with no house to live in and no bike to ride, and you would be very very hungry.

But it was not odourless last night. Some of the smells smelled like money ( I like dairy smells, I am a farm boy) but some of the odours they could have left waiting for today in my opinion. It certainly was a different sort of a ride, but on the same hand,,, interesting,,,, at least there was no chicken poop being spread.

Got no problem with bovine excrement. Got a real good whiff of it riding through farmland the other day. It is the odor of bovine excrement so prevalent in politics, media, and upper management that I fine very offensive.

Reading this reminded me of an area down in the Texas Panhandle we rode thru last year.. Me and my name Cowpuc usually get along ok but down there in that heat on this great big beef farm,, it was pretty hard to smile without gagging a little when Tip said "do you still think it was cute for the kids to name you that"..

Good on you guys for getting on out!! Glad you enjoyed it!!

I guess I'm still used to the manure smell from my younger farm days, it don't really bother me. We passed the Bush's Bean plant in Dandridge TN last year and it was almost unbearable for a few seconds. Anybody else been by there?
