Venturous Randy Posted April 28, 2015 #1 Posted April 28, 2015 It is interesting how the brain works, or doesn't work. Do you think you could do this? Randy
bongobobny Posted April 28, 2015 #2 Posted April 28, 2015 Very interesting and way cool Randy! Don't think I will try it on the Venture...
DragonRider Posted April 28, 2015 #4 Posted April 28, 2015 I havent been on a bicycle in over 25 years, so I doubt that I could even ride a regular bike, let alone that reverse steering bike. Very cool video, but it does prove on thing, that you can teach an old engineer new tricks, it just takes 8 months to do so...............LOL.
Flyinfool Posted April 28, 2015 #5 Posted April 28, 2015 I think it would be fun to don battle gear and give it a try. I have had to VERY quickly learn to fly an airplane that had controls backwards, but that does not involve near as many neurological processes as riding a bike.
Flyinfool Posted April 28, 2015 #7 Posted April 28, 2015 We need one of these for MD......... Someone will likely have a camera......... :rotf: :rotf:
Pegasus1300 Posted April 28, 2015 #8 Posted April 28, 2015 That was fascinating. I actually tried something similar with the same results. Go get on your regular bicycle and reverse your hands and see what happens. I'll bet you end up in the ditch like I did. :D
pbjman Posted April 29, 2015 #9 Posted April 29, 2015 A simple version of this is getting used to playing video games with the 'look' controls inverted (stick down is look up, stick up is look down) and then trying to play something with look controls standard......UUGGH!
ragtop69gs Posted April 29, 2015 #10 Posted April 29, 2015 Back in high school a buddy and I built a hydroplane boat and we mistakenly strung the steering backwards, it took a little time but we both learned to control it well. Some of our friend's never could get the hang of turning the wheel the opposite way you wanted to go.
videoarizona Posted April 29, 2015 #11 Posted April 29, 2015 Excellent, Randy! So good, I posted it on my FB page....so my friends there can enjoy!
Marcarl Posted April 29, 2015 #12 Posted April 29, 2015 I think he was going through some of the same lessons a drummer has to learn to be successful,,,,, I think! Quite interesting to watch,,, and all along I'm thinking,,, come-on, can't be that hard,,,can it???
cowpuc Posted April 29, 2015 #13 Posted April 29, 2015 WOW Rand, you once again posted a VERY interesting link - THANK YOU my brother!! Gotta tell you, when I first started watching that I instantly said NO - I COULD NOT RIDE THAT!! That "thought" didnt come from a shyness about being willing to try,, it came purely out of = what they did changes EVERYTHING about riding a bike.. Than I watched the vid.. About half way thru I said to myself,, I wonder what would happen if they took a child who had never ridden a bike before and he learned on that one - Puc, I said, I bet he could learn to ride that thing as quickly as he would have been able to ride a regular bike.. THAN, how wayyyy cool,, the author did exactly that (well, almost).. Anyway,, THAT was fascinating and one of the coolest, thought provoking, informative video's I have seen in a very long time!! THANK YOU BROTHER FOR SHARING!!
