RKWILL22 Posted April 26, 2015 #1 Posted April 26, 2015 Stator is shorted to ground on my 2007 RSV, anyone know of a good place to order a new one? Should I stick with OEM or is there a good after market product out there? Thanks,
Flyinfool Posted April 26, 2015 #2 Posted April 26, 2015 It seems that if you get a High Output aftermarket you will have more available power, But that extra power comes at the cost of shorter stator life. OEM will live longer. I have no idea on life span of aftermarket made to OEM specs.
BlueSky Posted April 26, 2015 #3 Posted April 26, 2015 There are lots of them for sale on ebay for a wide variation in price with the highest at $600 when I was looking.
rougeray Posted April 26, 2015 #4 Posted April 26, 2015 I put in a new stator from RICKS MOTORSPORT ELECTRIC, $160.00 plus shipping. This is not an easy job soooo be prepared. Once you have the side cover off that holds the stator there are three screws that hold the stator in. You are going to need a hand held impact at the very least. Another member advised she had to put some heat on the screws to get them out. I just used the hand held impact but buggered up one screw and had to chase down some new ones. Should you have some questions PM or call me. BTW it is a higher output than OEM.
etcswjoe Posted April 26, 2015 #5 Posted April 26, 2015 I have a Buckeye Performance one and it works well but I would recommend rebuilding or replacing your R/R connector and your stator connector.
midnightventure Posted April 26, 2015 #6 Posted April 26, 2015 OEM 236.00 http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2007/ROYAL+STAR+VENTURE+-+XVZ13TFW/GENERATOR/parts.html I have bought a radiator and stator from them. Not superfast but it gets here and is reasonably priced.
