pbjman Posted April 20, 2015 #1 Posted April 20, 2015 My trusty 1982 XJ650 is gone; off to new adventures with a fine gentleman who hasn't had a bike for years and is getting back into it. Maybe I'll use the extra space in the garage to resume tinkering on the '79 XS1100 project since I no longer have a 'spare bike'. And now I have disposable $$$$ that will be reserved for accessories & maintenance on the RSV. Woot Woot Woot!
Yammer Dan Posted April 21, 2015 #3 Posted April 21, 2015 My XJ750 Maxim is due for some tinkering this year. That is one fast little Scoot.
BlueSky Posted April 21, 2015 #4 Posted April 21, 2015 Around 1990 I was coming out of an auto parts store in Cary, NC and this teenager was headed towards his Maxim with oil he just bought. I stopped and chatted with him. He was 19 and he said he had ridden it to California and back. Said he carried an extra can of gas on the back to make sure he got across the deserts. Rear tire was completely slick. Nice kid. An adventurer!
cowpuc Posted April 21, 2015 #5 Posted April 21, 2015 I had an XJ one time that, believe it or not, had a bad second gear in it (it was a free bee trade in - basically the guy who swapped it in didnt want it anymore)!! Goofy thing was quicker than snot even without second!! It was a beater bike that I sold to a local kid for a hundred bucks - kid rode the thing all over (I actually seen him at our local "Bike Time" three years in a row on that thing).. Yep,, they grow on ya PB - hopefully having the xtra cash to toss into that RSV helps get you over your grief!!!
pbjman Posted April 22, 2015 Author #6 Posted April 22, 2015 It was a good bike but one thing I won't miss...... valves every 5,000 miles!
