Eck Posted April 18, 2015 #1 Posted April 18, 2015 My wife and I got a REAL pizza today in Chicago at Geno's (west)...What a HUGE difference of what one gets in Huntsville, Al. People in Huntsville do not know how to make REAL a pizza..
DragonRider Posted April 18, 2015 #3 Posted April 18, 2015 Eck, have you ever heard of Papa Murphy's Pizza, we discovered them while out in Colorado on vacation, not your typical pizza parlor. You go in and order your pizza any way you want it, they even have different sauces for them. We got an all meat with a white garlic sauce instead of the traditional sauce. They dont cook it for you, it is placed on a special plate so you can go home and cook it in your oven and let me tell you, it was the best pizza I have ever eaten, really great, looking forward to them coming here soon, but not holding my breath, we have so many pizza places here, I dont know if anyone would risk it, I would if I had the money and wanted to go back to work.

Flyinfool Posted April 18, 2015 #5 Posted April 18, 2015 More like this thread is worthless without an invite....... There are a bunch of great pizza places up in this area too. Milwaukee is well known for its good food. Proof is that Milwaukee has a very high percentage of overweight people. Never trust a skinny chef or a skinny food critic .....
Flyinfool Posted April 18, 2015 #8 Posted April 18, 2015 Now you done it. I just ordered dinner from a really good Italian restaurant. It will be here in about an hour, so IF you are fast.......... If you are to slow, You can lick my fingers.........
Condor Posted April 19, 2015 #10 Posted April 19, 2015 I love pizza...and like all of you, have a favorite 'joint'... Mine is in Elko Nev. across the street from the Motel 6. Best damn pizza I've ever had, bar none..... Locally it's hard to beat Papa Murphy's for price and yum....
friesman Posted April 19, 2015 #11 Posted April 19, 2015 Its all we serve here Regina, is the Chicago style inch thick Pizza Casserole (as Philip calls it) ,....and its sssooooo good! None of that thin stuff around here... Brian Chicago Pizza is NOT Pizza Its casserole!
Eck Posted April 19, 2015 Author #12 Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) More like this thread is worthless without an invite....... Invitation to meet up was posted Jeff, but no one contacted me to do so. (see post #5 in below link). Was planning on meeting up with one VR member, but it just didn't work out to meet up with him (Sorry Mike). http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?101303-Heading-to-Chicago Edited April 19, 2015 by Eck
Flyinfool Posted April 19, 2015 #13 Posted April 19, 2015 But your invite never mentioned PIZZA!!!!!!!
Howard B Posted April 19, 2015 #14 Posted April 19, 2015 I do not know what all the fuss is over PIZZA. Its just an excuse to eat with your fingers!!! Given my choice, i will take a good beef stew with big fluffy dumplings every time. And I can use a knife and fork.
Flyinfool Posted April 19, 2015 #15 Posted April 19, 2015 A knife and fork just slow down the eating process.....
steamer Posted April 19, 2015 #16 Posted April 19, 2015 Chicago Pizza is NOT Pizza Its casserole! Only real pizza in this country is in NY and NJ. Where it all started.
Flyinfool Posted April 20, 2015 #18 Posted April 20, 2015 Only real pizza in this country is in NY and NJ. Where it all started. Amen my New York brother. Preach it? Everyone knows that cheese is a very important ingredient to a really good PIZZA. And Wisconsin, THE Dairy State, has the very best cheese bar none. It is always a Wisconsin cheese maker that wins the cheese competitions every year. Just because someone may have been first, does not make them best. Dang it, now I am hungry again....... Maybe we need to set up a traveling PIZZA tasting tour.
PBJ Posted April 20, 2015 #19 Posted April 20, 2015 I second a pizza tour off. New York to Wisconsin and every pizza in between.
PBJ Posted April 20, 2015 #20 Posted April 20, 2015 Please Our Italian brothers and sisters make the best Mozzerella AND who make a better Pizza then the Inventors!! Sample pizza tour! I love the idea.
Wrench Posted April 21, 2015 #21 Posted April 21, 2015 I've never had Chicago pizza, but the best I've had so far in my life was at Central Islip Pizza on Long Island.
