Luggage Rack

What did you do about the luggage rack? They don't come up on ebay very often lately. (Wish I coulda got the one for $129 a few weeks ago!)

I just ordered one from Boats.net, $169.48 with free shipping. For what it is, that is more than I wanted to spend on it , but then again everything bike related is that way, right? That's the best I've been able to find on a genuine Yamaha rack.

 

I'm waiting until after Mom's Day then will start watching EBay. That was a good deal a few weeks ago. Sounds like that's a good price you got on boats.net. I may go the same route!

 

But now I'm concerned about how thin the Tour Pack top is compared to the 1st Gen. I put about 20 pounds on the 1st gen rack and it took it just fine. The whole Tour pack is better built...latches and hinges too. So I'm a little concerned about putting same gear on top of a rack on the 2nd Gen tour pack. It just doesn't appear to be as rugged.

Still haven't found a luggage rack.

But will start looking seriously (again) after New Year.

David, You are right in being concerned about the strength of the gen2 trunk. Cracked the base on ours while roaming the country with loose items inside.

Fortunately, dealer replaced it one time, otherwise this would have been a very costly repair.
