RoyalRider05 Posted April 15, 2015 #1 Posted April 15, 2015 Hello all, I have no spark (or very little if anything) coming from i believe cyl number #1 (right rear of motor) I took out the spark plug and put it to the frame...nada. I took out the other rear cyl spark plug and BAM...tons of spark. Can anyone confirm this is a coil? I cleaned the connectors at the bottom with some steel wool....still nothing. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks R
Du-Rron Posted April 15, 2015 #2 Posted April 15, 2015 Right Rear Cyl is #3 . Try swapping coil electrical input connector from #3 to #1 coil. Cyl #1 is left rear. If now have spark at #3 then it was a not a bad coil. If still no spark check to see if innards of cap are corroded by taking apart with a screwdriver. Verify cap is screwed onto spark plug wire and clean.
RoyalRider05 Posted April 15, 2015 Author #3 Posted April 15, 2015 Just checked the cap..its cleans as a whistle....I ordered a used set of coil off ebay. Ill try swapping the wires and check for spark tomorrow. Thanks for the input!
RoyalRider05 Posted April 18, 2015 Author #4 Posted April 18, 2015 Got 2 used coil thank goodness. Installed the first bad one....worked....the other rear coil failed!!!!!!!!!!!! So i swapped it and up and running...what a nightmare!! Thanks for the feedback
Winddancer Posted April 19, 2015 #5 Posted April 19, 2015 Had the same thing happen to me, fixed #3 coil and then #1 died a few days later.swapped that out too.. 8 months and 25k later #3 just died again..and these really are a nightmare to change out.
