gorski Posted April 14, 2015 #1 Posted April 14, 2015 Hi All, Toying with getting a GPS and am wondering if anyone knows of any major differences between the street 550 and the Zumo. I can make a waterproof cover for it if needed but not looking to spend +/_ $200 Many Thanks
djh3 Posted April 14, 2015 #2 Posted April 14, 2015 Look here. They look pretty close. Of course the Street Pilot is not waterproof, which neither is my Nuvi 765T. Being Mc specific I think the display may be a bit different on the Zumo. but for the price I think I can work around. My 2 big points when I was looking were #1 Able to import custom routes from my PC #2 audio out put jack. Which none of the current Nuvi models do anymore. So now days I reckon your screwed into buying a MC unit if you want that.
eagleeye Posted April 14, 2015 #3 Posted April 14, 2015 I also have a nuvi 765T and if it rains, I just take it off of the mount and stick it in my pocket. Simple It's all about the almighty dollar and who has it.
gorski Posted April 14, 2015 Author #4 Posted April 14, 2015 Thanks, my goal is to just be able to use a phone through it, and directions at times
RedRider Posted April 14, 2015 #5 Posted April 14, 2015 The Zumo 550 is a discontinued product by Garmin. You can find good used units out there, but Garmin will not repair if damaged. Garmin has moved to the Zumo 600/650 for new purchase. RR
Condor Posted April 15, 2015 #6 Posted April 15, 2015 I own 2 of the c550's. The only differences I can see is the sunlight screen and weatherproofing.... Great little GPS. I picked them up for 50-75 bucks off eBay. There are few words of causion. Make sure it has Bluetooth, and is unlocked. The later the better, do to latest maps...
