Would be nice to be able to drop by the dealer and pick up all those "must have" accessories that he wrote about, especially the "$19.99 chrome fairing protectors"! Ah the good old days when our bikes were fresh and new and parked on the showroom floor. Thanks Kevin for the blast from the past!

AWESOME read Prairie!! THANK YOU for posting it up!!

Sure makes me wish mother Yamaha would just reintroduce the 1st Gen as their "new" Venture - sure was refreshing reading about days not so long ago!! :big-grin-emoticon:

It really shows how well thought out some of the features were. I really liked how they showed the "niftier" corner pieces for corners that might be damaged. In all practically I have seen many panels that had damage in the same spot where the cover were to go. Well done.

I was fortunate to have the fairing chrome edge pieces on my VR when I purchased it and I believe I have only seen a new set show up on ebay once in all the years I have been looking for Venture line items. What sound interesting is the passenger footboard risers. Does anyone have or seen this option on a Venture and just how does it mount? Just curious mostly.

Thanks for posting.

Rick, I had the passenger "footboard risers" on my 1990 and was able to salvage them (thanks to the towing company) and will install them on the 1991. Debbie thought they were very helpful, not because she is vertically challenged, but it provided alternatives to the factory foot boards. Her version of highway pegs.

The passenger floorboards (made by Kriss and called 'Starsteps') mount to the saddlebag guards on a MKII. They fold up out of the way or can be laid out horizontally at three different heights.

I found mine on eBay for $30 but I have seen them sold (or at least asking as much as $130). Mine were emblazoned with the Venture "V", marking tham as a VentureLine accessory, but Kriss also marketed them for the GL1200. I have seen a pair made to fit the Venture, but only with the Kriss StarStep logo instead of the Venture "V". A pair like that sold for just $9.99 on eBay last year.

Some pics of the StarSteps on my 1990:

Hi #cimmer , do you happen to have a picture of your "Official Yamaha Venture Line Fairing Chrome Edge"? I've personally never seen a pair up close and would love to see what they look like to maybe investigate if I can fab up a couple pair for my two 1986 Royale's to cover up some battle scars.

Sounds like they are the "Holy Grail" pieces on eBay....I haven't been able to even find a picture of them on the web.

Thanks in advance!

While I am not @cimmer, I have played him on TV.

Below are pics of the fairing edge guard on my 1990 and on my 1991 as well as a pic of NOS pieces that were on eBay some time ago.

I guess I have seen those in a few of the pictures I have seen online of Venture and was never sure what they were. I can see how they would help the passenger be able to reposition their legs when riding. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Guys,

I found a couple scans of the "Official Yamaha Gen 1 Venture Line Accessory Brochure". Wow I didn't know they had so many goodies for our bikes back in the day. If only Marty McFly could take me for a spin in his Delorian back to 1986 I could really deck out my bike with Venture Line stuff!

Check out the Brochure at the links below (click on the picture to zoom in to read the fine print):
