Puc, the damage was about 1 1/2 to 2 hours west of Chicago. Not take anything from the people north of me or anyone else who have experienced that level of devastation.... We had a couple of small tornados yesterday near

Peoria, Illinois with the same storm system but no damage. And while they were small and again, no damage it was the closest I have come to experiencing one. I was in the garage tinkering on my bike and I heard a weather alert on the radio. They named a town about 30 minutes away and said there was a storm moving at 70MPH toward me. The sun was shining and no sign of a storm. A little later I noticed the sky was cloudy but no dark clouds as with a bad storm. We live in a subdivision with lots of trees making it difficult to see much but no sign of a bad storm.

I noticed the wind picked up a little but then I heard what sounded like distant thunder. I looked again and no sign of anything but just this thunder that didn't stop. My thinking was that it must be a really bad lightning storm with the Lightning so frequent it was one constant thunder sound. The wind was kicking up and blowing a little through my overhead door so I decided to close up for the night and get cleaned up. That thunder sound never really stopped for those several minutes. I went online when I got in the house to find there was a tornado passing overhead just 4 blocks north. Now that I know what they sound like I will more strongly consider heading to the basement in case I hear that unforgettable sound again! if any of you hear the same, please head for cover

On the local news they said people are finding debris from the Illinois tornadoes, in Wisconsin.

What was left of that same storm cell went right over Milwaukee. Fortunately it was no longer severe when it got here.

I sure hope all of our members from down there are OK.

Sorry to hear about the hail damage Mike, find a good paintless dent repair guy, they can fix most of it without bondo & paint. Glad you were spared the wrath of mother nature at home.
