Du-Rron Posted April 11, 2015 Share #26 Posted April 11, 2015 (edited) I think Stage 5 would be more appropriate. Then Stage 6 is one stock spring and one PCW. Then Stage 7 would be 2 PCW springs. I tried 2 PCW springs in Tweety and backed off to 2 stock springs. With the 2 stock springs, I will shift to neutral if I know stop will be long. Gary Well I'd like to shake your hand and congrad..... no, wait a minute, you would probably crush my paw. Gary I bet with those two PCW springs and a full plate install that the clutch would operated like a light switch. On and Off. Feather the clutch? Fugedaboudit. How long did you ride with the two PCW's before deciding to change them out?
dingy Posted April 11, 2015 Share #28 Posted April 11, 2015 None, Didn't take it off the lift. Put them in, tried it clutch and went back to the dual stock spring set up. Gary
Kirby Posted April 11, 2015 Share #29 Posted April 11, 2015 I did basically the same thing, run "double D's" in my RSV for the last 35,000 miles with the original clutch discs installed. It started slipping at about 45,000 miles so I put in an old diaphragm spring that came out of my Vmax when it started to slip. Everthing else was left like it was and haven't had any slippage since. The bike currently has about 80,000 miles on it now. The extra diapragm spring takes a little getting use to, but like Earl told me back then, "soon you'll be able to crack walnuts with your left hand". EtRider Posted April 12, 2015 Share #30 Posted April 12, 2015 I did the full clutch disc and new spring. Ditched the 1/2 disc, washers, and wire. With that said, my test ride left me thinking it really didn't feel much different as far as clutch play, ease of squeezing, or smooth starts. Not hard to pull in and no lurching or feeling too "grabby". My exact same results when I just completed my upgrade. No real difference in clutch pull. But riding 2 up and pulling trailer most of times I am glad I upgraded.
