I am going to put heated grips on the 88 VR and am interested in the showchrome 17-385. In the pictures it looks like they come with a throttle tube.

Does anyone know if these will fit the first gen? I am also concerned that they might be too short.

Any suggestions would also be welcome.

I like the thicker grips as the thin ones tend to make my hands cramp and I am pretty sure I don't want the peel and stick ones that go under the grips. i had grip puppies before and they were ok but I had non-heated grips similar to the 17-385's and found them very comfortable.

These are a little spendy, but I will have them for a long time and they will provide great comfort.

I have a set of those on my 05 venture. I like the larger diameter but I find the heat from them is inadequate. Mine are ok for cool days but when the temps get down to near freezing they don't provide enough heat. I ended up getting a set of heated gloves and vest from GEERS.

Thought I would update this.

I bought the showchrome grips P/N 17-385 from MXmegastore. With shipping to Canada they were still less expensive than I had seen anywhere else.

They are very nice, good quality, very comfortable. The heat is slow to rise and doesn't get as hot as my snowmobile grips, but it definitely takes the edge off. I think the metal content wicks the heat away preventing them from getting hot. If you keep your hands on them for 20 mins on high they will get fairly toasty, but if you move your hands the heat goes away quickly.

They fit well, proper length, cables fit - the throttle tube is integrated, it is one piece with the grip. The cable attachment is kind of in the wrong spot for the VR and the heat wires end up being on the side of the grip that faces you. It is not ideal but i was able to route the wires so they are not in my way but they are more visible than I would like.

I will add some pics later.

Overall I am pleased with these.
