Mike R Posted April 8, 2015 #1 Posted April 8, 2015 I have a 1986 venture and I'm looking for some after market mufflers that bolt on or slip on as we would have it . I don't want it sounding like an open piped harley but I would like them to go to the end of my saddle bags or close to it . Any suggestions are appreciated . Thnx Mike

Thnx Mike You will not find any slip-ons for the First Gen Venture marketed any more. Back in the day, there were two or three aftermarket manufacturers of slip-on mufflers for your '86; Jardine and MAC and one other who's name escapes me for the moment. Your best bet is to search on eBay for such mufflers. For awhile there was a seller offering brand new MACs for the First Gen on eBay, but I haven't seen a listing lately. Alternatively, several have adapted Harley Road King mufflers to the First Gen. It is not a slip-on (there is a transition pipe that has to be fabricated and some brackets to be made), but the RK mufflers are common and cheap.
Prairiehammer Posted April 12, 2015 #3 Posted April 12, 2015 Here are some new MAC mufflers on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAC-Yamaha-Venture-Royal-Turn-Down-Slip-On-Mufflers-Chrome-Exhaust-004-4315-/111410445716?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AVenture+Royale&hash=item19f0947d94&vxp=mtr And some very used MAC mufflers for only $35 less. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-89-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ12-XVZ13-After-Market-Slip-On-Mufflers-/111636173645?hash=item19fe08d34d&vxp=mtr
Brenner Posted April 13, 2015 #4 Posted April 13, 2015 I have only one comment hopefully that may help rather than hinder. I have the set of mufflers shown above on my bike and I am not a fan of the sound. I am looking at replacing them with harley mufflers as they make noise rather than a nice sound. I do have friends who find them very nice to listen to but coming from a vtwin and harley to the venture it just does not do it for me. So my advice is try to find a sound clip online before you buy so you know what you are getting. If you cannot find one PM me as a reminder and I will do a video of mine with those same pipes so you will know what they sound like in advance. Once I swap mine out they will be passed on to someone in need but I am unsure of when I will be replacing them. Good luck.
