joelmac Posted March 26, 2015 #1 Posted March 26, 2015 Can someone identify the circled part? And is it possible for oil to leak from this part? Thanks for all your help!
Peder_y2k Posted March 27, 2015 #2 Posted March 27, 2015 Only fluid behind those covers is coolant. The cover keeps the plug from popping out. Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
Du-Rron Posted March 27, 2015 #3 Posted March 27, 2015 Those there are your linear farznel bearing slides. Seriously though, there are drain plugs for coolant behind there. They are rubber plugs. Available from Yamaha, you may want to consider replacing them since they are probably pretty old.
Motiv Posted March 27, 2015 #5 Posted March 27, 2015 Just ordered 4 from partzilla for my 99 rsv, they are under 5 bucks each.
djh3 Posted March 27, 2015 #6 Posted March 27, 2015 So those would be the equivalent of the faux fins that cover up the leaking bugger plugs on the RSV?
joelmac Posted March 29, 2015 Author #7 Posted March 29, 2015 Thanks for all the responses gentlemen . I'm a little slow getting back to figure out how to post back . The old man had to ask my daughter to help get me started . I think the oil is blowing up from one or both of the covers directly under. Somebody worked there and used for a gasket instead of actual gaskets . Will remove and replace .
GaryZ Posted April 3, 2015 #8 Posted April 3, 2015 There are drain holes at the bottom of those covers. Water can collect when washing or riding in the rain. It is best to check these holes and keep them open.
