SilvrT Posted March 23, 2015 Author #26 Posted March 23, 2015 Dang... all this great times boating talk ... I'm starting to wish I'd kept it LOL We do enjoy being on the water, exploring shoreline, fishing, skiing, tubing, etc ... it was just a matter of economics that we sold it.
Wrench Posted March 23, 2015 #27 Posted March 23, 2015 I never got "bit" by the boating bug, but I have been out with friends a few times thru the years, mostly fishing. I've got a friend whose parents live at Jamestown, he practically grew up on Cumberland. He always went to 76 Falls for the 4th of July tie-up bash, I've seen the pics/vids, looked like good times. The lake should look a lot better now that the water level is back to normal, I think they drew it down about 40-50 ft while they were repairing the dam, it's a really deep lake. There's some BIG hybrid stripers in there too.
Freebird Posted March 24, 2015 #28 Posted March 24, 2015 Yea, we usually put in at Grider Hill. Don't know why, we just do. It's not as nice as some of the places but typically not very crowded. I knew they were raising the level again but haven't been back since they did. Looking forward to it at some point.
Motiv Posted March 24, 2015 #29 Posted March 24, 2015 We have enjoyed ours since 1990, it spent a couple years in dry dock here and there but we've had many good times on it.

Pam Posted March 25, 2015 #32 Posted March 25, 2015 Had a boat for about twenty years and used it lots when we lived further north with a lake every where, use to spend more in gas for the boat in the summer than the truck to pull it. Finally needed a new floor so we put in a new floor which took a couple of years. Wife did a bit of research and we hadn't used it in about six years. After quite a bit of thought we sold it and haven't missed it. More fun to jump on the bike and go.
BratmanXj Posted March 25, 2015 #33 Posted March 25, 2015 After quite a bit of thought we sold it and haven't missed it. More fun to jump on the bike and go. I have the best of both. Wife's a school teacher, mother is semi-retired; Friday mid-day they pack up the kid and head down to the cottage together. Friday afternoon I get off work, park the car in the garage and head down on the bike. Park the bike, put on a bathing suit and push a jet ski into the water and gone again!
Motiv Posted March 26, 2015 #34 Posted March 26, 2015 Paul, what lake is that? That is Tappan lake in Harrison county off of SR 250 I t is a beautiful lake and there are a lot of good motoring roads around. We have a chalet (read "fixer upper") just up the road from there . We should do a weekend there when the weather gets nice!
