Flyinfool Posted March 19, 2015 #1 Posted March 19, 2015 I can't help but to say something, this just has me totally amazed. Tuesday March 17 at 10:27 am I made an internet purchase from Germany. The box to ship this was 4 feet x 5 feet x 8 inches, and weighed about 28 lbs. It was picked up at the sellers house by DHL International Express on Tuesday at 13:41 on 3-17-15. It was delivered to me today at 14:27 on 3-19-15. This just blows my mind that a big package can get from Germany to Wisconsin, with customs thrown in, in just 50 hours, 46 minutes. I mailed a USPS small flat rate box to travel just 90 miles and it took 5 days to get there. My hat is off to DHL for whatever they are doing, they are doing it right. In all fairness I must admit that when the tracking first came up online a few minutes after the package pickup. I laughed that it said the expected delivery was by the end of the day on 3-19-15. I figured no way in he11.
cowpuc Posted March 19, 2015 #2 Posted March 19, 2015 Probably shipped by someone who has read the stories of the infamous Turbo Charged Wisconsin White Washer and its trigger happy owner who is now building snowflake shaped missiles and he KNOWS not to get on your wrong side Fool!! That is definitely impressive Jeff!
SilvrT Posted March 19, 2015 #3 Posted March 19, 2015 Such things do tend to baffle one's mind. Similarly to your 90 mile shipment, something I order from just south of the border can take 5-10 days via USPS. Across Canada ... couple days via Can Post. To fly to a place like Las Vegas & return from Vancouver ... around $180 ... to fly to Kelowna, BC & return ... around the same amount yet there's a 2 hour difference in flight times. Baffles my mind LOL
turtle Posted March 19, 2015 #4 Posted March 19, 2015 I ordered t new tires from Bike Bandit 3-17-15 in late morning received a little before noon 3-19-15 I was surprised and pleased. A pair of stock size E3 for $294 free shipping in case some one was wondering.
MiCarl Posted March 19, 2015 #5 Posted March 19, 2015 Jeff, you forgot the time difference. When you figure that in it's almost 59 hours. Not so fast now.....
The Tooch Posted March 19, 2015 #6 Posted March 19, 2015 Jeff, you forgot the time difference. When you figure that in it's almost 59 hours. Not so fast now..... And remeber it's METRIC TIME! Over there makes a big difference........
MiCarl Posted March 20, 2015 #7 Posted March 20, 2015 And remeber it's METRIC TIME! Over there makes a big difference........ Excellent point! Let me see if I can remember the conversion: 1 imperial hour = 254 metric hours *9/5 + 32. In German time that's 27,007 hours! For the math challenged - that's about 37 months, or just over 3 years.
Marcarl Posted March 20, 2015 #9 Posted March 20, 2015 Ya sure,,,,,, Why me then??? Ordered a bubble envelope from JMCorp with a small cord packed inside on March 12. It must have grabbed a motel in LA for it stayed there for some time, then flew off to Vancouver where the weather must have been exceptional for it needed to rest there as well,,,, but hey, it departed there on the 18th and is expected here in S.Ontario for delivery on the 24th. Now if this was a large package, I could understand it,,, but an envelope????? USPS and Canada post. And they wonder why we don't ship with them???
ReinyRooster Posted March 20, 2015 #10 Posted March 20, 2015 Jeff.......I sink zat iz ze Cherman influence....ya????? Bwahahahaha!! ( spoken with a thick German accent while clicking my heels together)
