CATPower Posted March 17, 2015 #1 Posted March 17, 2015 Anybody tried or running these tires. Looking to put a Shinko 777 130/90B-16 (73H) WW on the front. Any thought Thanks
eagleeye Posted March 17, 2015 #2 Posted March 17, 2015 I put one on the front of my 05 RSTD this winter, but no miles on it yet. I've heard good things, but time will tell. That is it on the front.
djh3 Posted March 18, 2015 #3 Posted March 18, 2015 I put shinkos on mine this time. Had a premature failure on the rear, but no fault of tire. I ran over something that put about a 3/4" plus gash in the tire. But if I remember right the weight rating was not as high on the 777 as the 230 and thats why I went the 230 tourmaster route. Everything I read on the HD forums sounded like it was worth a try.
Du-Rron Posted March 18, 2015 #4 Posted March 18, 2015 The Shinko 777 is a new tire series vs the 230. They have higher load rating and more rubber on them than the 230 series. Shinko777Specs.pdf
CATPower Posted March 18, 2015 Author #5 Posted March 18, 2015 Thanks for the reply. They have a good feedback on the HD form. I think i will give them a try.
djh3 Posted March 20, 2015 #6 Posted March 20, 2015 Comparing to my 230's I looked at pricing. Now I remember why I went the 230 route. @ $40 each less I think thats why then. The prices on your link are not terrible less than a Michelin Commander 2, so I would probably go that route. I get you wanted the WW. but for me that would mean pulling the bags all the time to clean the rear tire. Besides if my cage gets tires and they are WW I turn them inside.
CATPower Posted March 20, 2015 Author #7 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) I got a bike lift so cleaning is not a problem. Edited March 20, 2015 by CATPower
eagleeye Posted March 20, 2015 #8 Posted March 20, 2015 Without a lift cleaning my WW's is not a problem. everyone has their own way to clean (or not to clean) their bike. Blast it in the car wash, or like me, clean it in my driveway. Cleaning is cleaning. WW's is just one more thing.
CATPower Posted June 9, 2015 Author #9 Posted June 9, 2015 Ok i put a several hundred miles on the front Shinko 777 130/90B-16 HD and the tire feels great. Now I'm not plowing through curves anymore. Slow handling improved greatly. Hope that helps
djh3 Posted June 10, 2015 #10 Posted June 10, 2015 I have been researching tire some today. Looks like my rear Shinko 230 will make about 6500 miles before needing replacement. Im @ about 5300 now and shes gettin thin. Looks like the 777 I have been looking at are "reinforced" now. They have an 80 rating vs 74. Cheapest I have found so far is $102 from J&P. Mmichlen C2 run about 150 or so I think.
videoarizona Posted June 10, 2015 #11 Posted June 10, 2015 Sure like the looks of the white wall on an RSV....

Grandpagak Posted June 15, 2015 #13 Posted June 15, 2015 Have any of you ever used the Kenda line of tires?? My buddy and I have been usung them for years.. They wear well and we have never had any issues with them.. I have used them on my 83 Venture , and my Goldwing.. My buddy used them on his 900 Vulcan and on his 1300 V-Star .. The K657 Challenger, K673kruz, and the K671 cruiser tires have all been great tires for us.. And the price is good!!
Squidley Posted June 15, 2015 #14 Posted June 15, 2015 I have run 777's on a 1st gen and was very pleased with how they handled. I would absolutely buy them again.
eagleeye Posted June 15, 2015 #15 Posted June 15, 2015 I put the 130, 777 WWW on the front of my RSTD. Only have a few K on it so far.
