turtle Posted March 13, 2015 #1 Posted March 13, 2015 Is it against the road gods to move a bell that some one gave you to a different bike?
SilvrT Posted March 13, 2015 #2 Posted March 13, 2015 Worked ok for me... mine is on it's 3rd bike now. Here's an interesting vid about them...
Bert2006 Posted March 13, 2015 #3 Posted March 13, 2015 And is bad to install one that you bought yourself?
MiCarl Posted March 13, 2015 #4 Posted March 13, 2015 And is bad to install one that you bought yourself? They work best if they are a gift. I bought mine at a dealer that was closing. The disgruntled employees only rang up half my items, and the bell was not one that I paid for. So I count it as a gift:happy34:.
SilvrT Posted March 13, 2015 #5 Posted March 13, 2015 Mine is mounted at the bottom of the front crash bar, right side. Mine not only scares off the gremlins, it also tells me when I'm leaned too far over. Just need someone to give me another so I can mount it on the other side.
MiCarl Posted March 13, 2015 #6 Posted March 13, 2015 SilvrT reminded me: They need to be under the bike where the gremlins are. Up high won't work. I have proof of this. We bought my wife a V-STAR 650 that had been crashed and the rider severely injured. The guardian bell was attached to the key. Not only is that too high, but gremlins were probably climbing on while it was parked.
Mike G in SC Posted March 14, 2015 #7 Posted March 14, 2015 I am more worried about the Saint Christopher medal I stole off another bike and have on my Venture. Might be bad karma???? Okay, so I didn't really steal it,,,, it was on a used bike at a dealer in Camp Hill, PA. I was getting a new tire installed and looked at the used bikes. I saw a V-star 1100 and it had a brass looking St Chris clip on it. I took it off, and went to the cute girl at the service desk and asked if I could have it. With a couple hundred for the rear tire, and another $70 to replace the valve stem they found on the front,,, she said sure. I don't think that was "sure sucker". Anyhow, I win,,, St Chris trumps those superstitious silly gremlin bells. Wait,,, maybe I should think that out,,,, or call a priest? Nah, I'll call him later,,, when St Chris flies. Mike G in SC
