Bryon Posted March 12, 2015 #1 Posted March 12, 2015 My 96 xvs1300 Yamaha has the rubber intakes from carbs to heads are cracked seeping gas I want to know can a guy not very mechanically inclined replace them with out a problem. What tools are needed can someone attempt this job. What would an estimated guess be about what a shop might charge. Parts nLabor. Thanks my friends
M61A1MECH Posted March 12, 2015 #2 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Bryon, see my reply in the welcome section where you asked the same question. Are you certain it is gas leaking? Really should not be any fuel going thru those boots, they only connect the air box to the intake of the carbs, the fuel comes into the carbs in the body of the carbs below the boots. What you may be seeing is oil leaking from the air box , pretty common on these bikes because they have a crankcase vent that dumps oil fumes into the air box.
