buddy Posted March 26, 2008 #1 Posted March 26, 2008 NO the world is not coming to an end yet.... Yes I looking at buying a brand new touring bike. Banker called me this after noon and said if I wanted a new bike go find one and ride it home.. Yes I'm looking at possible Second Generation Why? got tired of waiting for them to bring back the First generation design. NO really I like the design of the Second Gen. always have even tho I give Redneck a hard time about it. Was maybe looking at 2007 or 2008 models I know nothing has changed on the design but would like to know what I need to look for in these bikes?? does all the Ventures have the CB - radio- intercom system?pillow top seats? see I do not know everything. OK I can hear him now.....go ahead Redneck Will be looking around here or may go up to Shawnee and look at their store if I can remember their name. its hard to remember when your hair starts turning gray. P.S. The 83 beast is not leaving.....
BuddyRich Posted March 26, 2008 #2 Posted March 26, 2008 Good luck. They are really basically the same machine. Just in a slightly different package.
gibvel Posted March 26, 2008 #3 Posted March 26, 2008 Yeah, they all have the CB, Intercom and Pillow top...wait, not sure about the midnight having pillow top. But, yes, CB, Intercom, Cassette deck...
Mariner Fan Posted March 26, 2008 #4 Posted March 26, 2008 Yeah, they all have the CB, Intercom and Pillow top...wait, not sure about the midnight having pillow top. But, yes, CB, Intercom, Cassette deck... My 07 Midnight has the pillow top seats. I've seen the 08 model. Exactly the same as usual but the Black Cherry/Raven color is sweet!

Well, I'll sell you my 03 for $13,000 :whistling:then you would have to pry my hands off the grips, because I really like mine. Have not seen a color that I like any better either. I guess if you bought mine I'd just have to go get a Harley
gibvel Posted March 26, 2008 #6 Posted March 26, 2008 Have not seen a color that I like any better either. Don't know. I think I could get into that Charcoal Silver 08!! Only thing I don't care for on the 08 is the tank detailing. Makes it look ... I don't know ... smaller?

Pilot Posted March 26, 2008 #8 Posted March 26, 2008 A few members are selling their bikes. Check them out, you just might be able to save a few bucks. I don't remember who had the 07 with about 6K miles on her for $11,500, you can do a search and find it. If not maybe he will post here for you.
Pilot Posted March 26, 2008 #9 Posted March 26, 2008 heatonmt 2007 venture View My Photo Gallery Has the 07 with 6K miles for sale, $11,500 if he still has it. At that price you could buy a plane ticket, fly there and ride her home. This is a really nice deal........
yamahamer Posted March 26, 2008 #10 Posted March 26, 2008 Remember the 07's had the head bolts not torked to spec. if you get an 07 ask if it has been fixed if not look for leaks.

I'm sure you are correct about the 83 not leaving once you get that second gen you won't waste any time messing with that antique.
buddy Posted March 27, 2008 Author #12 Posted March 27, 2008 OK most of you know I did buy a 88 GL1500 Wing not long ago, Well my son was looking for a big bike too but could not pay the money all at once so I am letting him buy my GL1500. In turn I 'm buying a brand new bike:). I went to some dealers this week looking and driving a few Ventures. I won't name dealers that I been to since some of them gave me a bad time & bad service. there were couple of the bikes I wanted to test drive but being new they would not let me unless I pay first sorry I don't play that game. Another dealer let me ride a very nice midnight series but the transmission was too noisy for me and hear Peg talking to me, also kinda hard to turn in slow turns as well may have just been me. Found a black cherry boy it was pretty but the dealer wanted 18,999.00 and would not come down any at all while the other ones were in the 16,800-17,000. Anyway I was looking at another Midnight series and it was very nice, transmission was nice too not so loud as the other one. Peg got on a Second Gen (demo) black cherry and we took it out for a good long drive but the back rest was hurting her back some ... I was hoping she could ride a Second Gen. but she needs a full length back rest to help support her upper back area on long trips. Another reason why I ride the 83 beast solo now. So I signed the papers today on a 2008 dark red bike , sorry not Second Gen. I rather not say what it is right now, I might get hung out to dry..... The new bike has a nice smooth ride and Peg can ride it with her back condition. Sure did like riding the Second Gen. this is a nice riding bike for sure......Sorry it dint work in my favor. Sorry guys I received a PM today about a bike for sale, If I known sooner I would have waited on signing the papers at the bank and checked it out. Sorry
kbran Posted March 27, 2008 #13 Posted March 27, 2008 Oh come on, don't leave us in suspence. Dark red huh, a Harley maybe.

buddy Posted March 27, 2008 Author #15 Posted March 27, 2008 OK guys promise not to get too mad. 2008 GL1800 Gold Wing. We test drove a demo and found it to be the best ride for Peggy and I got to pick the color. (Dark red metallic ) closest I could get to the color Black cherry Venture The color I wanted is still in the crate so we will pick it up Saturday. But before I sign the final papers it will be test driven first.... Its not the fancy one its the base line GoldWing . Dont need heated seats my big rear takes care of that...
lonestarmedic Posted March 27, 2008 #16 Posted March 27, 2008 Nice color and a fantastic road machine. You will get a lot of ribbing. However if this group doesn't poke at you then they don't laove ya no more! I say that being able to take along a passenger who loves to ride with you is the most important aspect here. Post pictures of the 2 of you on a bike (in front of a lighthouse!!) soon. JB

Got to take care of those significant others! If my wife wanted a Gold Wing and that's what she enjoyed riding on with me, you can bet I would have one. can't wait to see it in Arkansas or somewhere this year. Might even have to sneak it out for a ride:thumbsup:

Yammer Dan Posted March 27, 2008 #20 Posted March 27, 2008 Hey Buddy it RUNS!! Although I am a Die-Hard 1st Genner. I haven't got to ride much since the "Blue Beast" went down. I've thought a lot about changing that but I'll keep trying a little while longer. GOOD LUCK with the New Ride. ENJOY!!
