Hey everyone, I am new here and I am looking forward to participate and hopefully enhance this forum.

I just acquired a 01 RSTD with 28000 miles in great shape.

Everything works well, but I am wondering about rough, noisy hard shifting.

Before the bike gets to running temperature it seems the shifting is smoother.

As it warms up it feels harder, crankier and louder.

I almost having to kick it down and when shifting up it actually hurts my foot (no heel-toe)

Any advice or comments are welcome.

OK if oil looks decent, I would go with a flush and refill of all the hyd. Clutch, brakes. Someone elses will have to fill you in on the type of fluid. I know the Second Gens take DOT 4.

Lube all the pivot points on your shifter linkage.Mine got hard to shift and I lubed the linkage and it cured my problem.I used white lithium spray in a can.

If your idle speed is high it will shift harder into first gear. Since I like an soft easy shift I keep my idle speed down to about 950 rpm. As it goes over the 1000 rpm spec setting it tends to slam first gear.

Hey guys, I finally had time to get to my problem. I flushed and change clutch fluid. It was very dirty. It definitely feels better. I think that was the problem.

Thank you all for the help!!!
