Air horn inside left lower fairing... thoughts?

I am thinking of installing a Denali Soundbomb inside the left lower fairing, just above and ahead of the left drivers footpad. There are some black plastic covers there that dress up the inside, and I am thinking that if I remove them - especially maybe only the lower one - I might be able to hang the horn off the chrome crash bar that goes through there. That leads to a couple of questions:

Has anyone done this?

The top inside black plastic piece is held on by an allen head chrome bolt and some black plastic "rivets". How do they come out?

Any other comments?

My thought on horns mounted in the faring are that it is real loud to the bike driver, but pretty much no one else.

I have dual air horns installed. I got the brackets from SlowRollWV - they go behind and below the passenger floorboards. Two Stebels are really loud !

Yup my one stebil is mounted there. Sorry I dont really remember how then dagum rivet goobers come out. I think you actually turn them a little like 3 turns or so like a screw then you may have to "lift" the center screw part up to unlock it and then pop the whole gizmo out.

Yes, this is what I was thinking, thank you. You feel it is plenty loud tucked back there?

I am asking because the Soundbomb isn't chrome... its flat black - so I'd rather tuck it away, and leave the chrome stock one where it is.

I have my Stebel mounted inside the front fairing and had the same thoughts as well.. until I did sound test.

 

Standing in front and to the sides of the bike with the engine running, there was but only a 2 decibel sound difference with the fairing on or off.

Yea I think its still way way louder than the OEM beeper.

When I was replacing my right horn with a Stebel, I first disconnected the stock right. I did honk the remaining left horn (inside the cowling). It went mufffff. Been years but seems it was same horn as the one on the right.

If so, yeah, mounted inside, it does not have the outlet that a car horn does, and lost a bunch of sound getting out.

I made a bracket and mounted my Stebel on the right side where the stock chrome horn was. It looks like it was born that way. When I get time, I'll add a relay and rewire it, I think you get more power to the horn that way and don't load down your horn switch.

Yes you want a relay to power the air horn. Your horn switch will not live long switching that much power.

A member, CarbonOne, makes a wire harness including the relay for this. He also sells a nice polished bracket to mount the horn. I purchased both and was very pleased
