BlueSky Posted February 22, 2015 #3 Posted February 22, 2015 Los Olas is what I believe the street name is where we went a lot. It's not far from the beach. It's like old down town. There are lots of small restaurants where you can eat and some unique shops. You can go for rides on large boats that show you around the canals where the rich and famous live.
Brake Pad Posted February 23, 2015 #4 Posted February 23, 2015 if you like Boston food, "Kellys Landing" on 17th & cordova street. the best Seafood is the area, and a lot cheaper A Great New England Seafood Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

naturbar Posted February 23, 2015 #6 Posted February 23, 2015 I grew up and lived in Ft. Laud. area for too many years to remember...rode my first motorcycle there. There are alot of good places to eat there just depends on your likes. Take you wife to Sawgrass Mills shopping center, she'll love you for it. Head over to South Port bar, try the conch salad and a cold beer, it's right around the corner from port Everglades where you'll be taking your cruise. Here's more info.....enjoy your time there... Venturous Randy Posted February 23, 2015 #7 Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) I remember being in Ft Lau waiting to get on the ship and went to a huge flea market that was five drive in theaters together. Had some really good deals. Randy Edited February 23, 2015 by Venturous Randy

Brake Pad Posted February 23, 2015 #9 Posted February 23, 2015 South port raw bar is right next door to Kelly's landing on Cordova

It will be our first time in the area, hope its still as nice as you remember! Usually we just go to Florida to see Mickey!
BlueSky Posted February 24, 2015 #11 Posted February 24, 2015 The Ft. Lauderdale beach is great now with lots of parking especially compared to South Beach. That's about as far north where the water is still clear. That is one think I love about FL, the crystal clear water. Great for snorkeling or scuba.

djh3 Posted February 24, 2015 #13 Posted February 24, 2015 If it was me and I thought I wanted to go the east coast route. I think about as far south as I would go is where Brakpad is. Actually Melbourne is more what I what I had in mind. Its a bit less expensive up that way.
