almariders Posted February 21, 2015 #1 Posted February 21, 2015 Just got back from a great ride today in 85 degree weather here in Palm Springs area, went to hang helmet on rt side holder and guess what, it was gone. Must have loosed up and flew off some where along the ride . It reminded me of the 05 Ultra Classic I had for 5 years. So I will be looking for a replacement for it and everyone might want to check the tightness of the holders on your bikes.
slowrollwv Posted February 21, 2015 #2 Posted February 21, 2015 I could care less if I lost one, I never use them. While at a bike night last year a friend had his and his wife's helmets locked on there bike. Some smart person filled there helmets with beer. Needless to say that we are a helmet required state.
bongobobny Posted February 21, 2015 #3 Posted February 21, 2015 Just an FYI, the holders are the same ones as the 1st gen holders...
Eck Posted February 21, 2015 #4 Posted February 21, 2015 I have never heard of a helmet holder coming off a Venture. This is a new one for me. almariders, I added your warning information to our VR list of known problems, in hopes to warn others to check mounting hardware for proper tightness. See post #31 here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/known-problems-and-things-to-look-for/1067-list-gen-venture-2.html Thanks for the heads up! Eck
rougeray Posted February 21, 2015 #5 Posted February 21, 2015 Lost my left side a couple of yrs ago. I do use the remaining one.
Tliljenquist Posted July 20, 2015 #6 Posted July 20, 2015 Lost mine on my ride home after buying it! Oh well, I just keep the helmets in the trunk
Flyinfool Posted July 20, 2015 #7 Posted July 20, 2015 I'll have to look and see if I even have any, never used them.
RedRider Posted July 21, 2015 #8 Posted July 21, 2015 Lost mine on my first IB ride. Going thru Chicago, saw it sliding across the highway in my rear view mirror. Didn't stop. RR
Condor Posted July 21, 2015 #9 Posted July 21, 2015 A replacement will need to be rekeyed unless you can find one being sold with a key??
