CaptainJoe Posted February 20, 2015 #1 Posted February 20, 2015 Whats the best weather app for a android smart phone?
Condor Posted February 20, 2015 #4 Posted February 20, 2015 There a lot of good ones. Personally I use The Weather Chanel for current and forecasts. I also use Raindar for getting the low down on stormy days and watching storm tracks in real time.
CaptainJoe Posted February 20, 2015 Author #5 Posted February 20, 2015 Thanks for the replies... looking for one that has weather radar and loads fast...
eagleeye Posted February 20, 2015 #6 Posted February 20, 2015 I use accuweather and one of our local weather apps and I also use raindar.
Moped Posted February 20, 2015 #7 Posted February 20, 2015 Whats the best weather app for a android smart phone? best one I have used and tried most is 1W. Does it all.
Flyinfool Posted February 20, 2015 #8 Posted February 20, 2015 Since most of them are based on meteorologists, and we all know meteorologists all are not real good at what they do....... The best ones are Stickyourheadoutthewindowandlookup.con or Goforarideandseewhathappens.con
XV1100SE Posted February 20, 2015 #9 Posted February 20, 2015 Whats the best weather app for a android smart phone? I have seven different weather apps on my smart phone. Between the seven at any given time there are four different forecasts. One will say dry and warm. Another one rain and cold....mostly cloudy....partly sunny. Weather forecasters use computer models that will show multiple possible tracks for a storm, or forecasts for what the weather "might" be. They pick one. Don't think there is a "smart" weather app for phones. You might find one app that is accurate today, but totally wrong tomorrow. Since most of them are based on meteorologists, and we all know meteorologists all are not real good at what they do....... The best ones are Stickyourheadoutthewindowandlookup.con or Goforarideandseewhathappens.con When travelling, I'll use a couple apps to look at radar...and even these quite often are different for current conditions. I'll see what a couple of them are forecasting....make my own guess based on radar and what I see in the sky, and then keep an eye out for building clouds, cars coming towards me with lights or windshield wipers going....

I'd say you nailed it!
ragtop69gs Posted February 20, 2015 #11 Posted February 20, 2015 + 1 on raindar as a great app while riding, for keeping a detailed radar picture of approaching storms. Not really good for forecasting.
Kirby Posted February 20, 2015 #12 Posted February 20, 2015 Joe, I've used NOAA Weather Free for a couple of years and found it to be my goto place for the weather. Sometimes, just to back up what it says, I'll check Accuweather. Both have been good for me.
eagleeye Posted February 21, 2015 #13 Posted February 21, 2015 I just dumped accuweather. I'll try NOA weather free for a while and see how I like that. Thanks
camos Posted February 21, 2015 #14 Posted February 21, 2015 I use weatherspark.com and have found it to be better than 90% accurate on a daily basis. Don't know if there is an app for it since no one makes apps anymore for my not so smart iPhone 3G. I don't have a data plan but can load a webpage when connected to WiFi although it does not include the Java radar app because the old thing does not drink Java.
ragtop69gs Posted February 21, 2015 #15 Posted February 21, 2015 CaptainJoe, Puc, Here's what you have to look forward to. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/21/c19e31a6f4d3616c0c66c56ec3d45836.jpg http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/21/3fbcdbcc9aedead580c01cd3f726cb48.jpg
BlueSky Posted February 21, 2015 #16 Posted February 21, 2015 My son set up Beautiful Widget for my wife's Samsung 5 android. It's by Google I think. My wife likes it better than weatherbug. I stuck with the iphone 6 and still use weatherbug.
CaptainJoe Posted February 22, 2015 Author #17 Posted February 22, 2015 Steve loaded Raindar, WeatherBug, Accuweather and I will tell him about NOOA. They are all different and each has merits... will have to look into widget Google? Really like the real time radar of RainDar... Don't want to get stuck in a tornado when I go out west this year... Thanks Guys! Jay Those are some really nice pics... We'll be posting some from down there... I can taste that fresh seafood now!
ragtop69gs Posted February 22, 2015 #18 Posted February 22, 2015 We had a great selection of seafood tonight at 2015 Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival | Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival filled our belly's and ears with lots of good things.
djh3 Posted February 22, 2015 #19 Posted February 22, 2015 Captinjoe, when out west and temp drops like10-15 degrees and wind picks up. Look for sky to turn green and big roll of clouds. Then its time to look for a hole to hide in.
BottomFeeder Posted February 22, 2015 #20 Posted February 22, 2015 Radar Now has been pretty good to me.
