jonesy Posted February 11, 2015 #1 Posted February 11, 2015 house on other side of street had a murder take place today, so said the cop asking me what I've seen today.
Eck Posted February 11, 2015 #2 Posted February 11, 2015 That's to close buddy...... to close.... I know many speak of having guns on hand and ready to use, but for those that don't: Buy a can buy wasp spray that shoots 20 feet.. Keep some on your bed stand along with the keys to your vehicle.. If someone does break in, first push the red alarm button on the key fob to get your vehicle car horn going.. Grab the wasp spray and "HOPE LIKE HECK" the intruder doesn't have a gun... Do not get close to the intruder, stay at minimum 20 ft away and spray the wasp spray into his face and eyes..ylu don't want it to get into your eyes or on your clothes.. According the Huntsville Police department, a group of us in the neighborhood watch program was told that only the hospital has the diluting fluid needed to flush the wasp spray out of their eyes, and anyone who comes into the hospital with wasp spray in their eyes, the nurses / Dr's call the police to let them know. The police in the mean time have been contacted by the person who was broken into and they have told the police that they sprayed the intruder with the wasp spray...what did the intruder look like they will ask.. And they are off to the hospital to arrest your intruder.. Yes, I know this is "IF"... the intruder does not have a gun.. but hey,...its a chance you have..
cecdoo Posted February 12, 2015 #3 Posted February 12, 2015 Sorry to hear that, hope you dont have anymore trouble in that "freakin" neighborhood! Take care, Craig
Chaharly Posted February 12, 2015 #4 Posted February 12, 2015 That is scary! Worst crime ive ever been around was when my ts400 got stolen this year. May I ask what you got for home security?

BlueSky Posted February 12, 2015 #7 Posted February 12, 2015 My wife and I have carry permits. She doesn't usually carry but I do. Hopefully, it is unnecessary. I never considered getting a permit until I lived and worked in Homestead, FL for 3 1/2 years. Lots of burglars go shopping at night there.
CaptainJoe Posted February 12, 2015 #8 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Words of advice: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... Adequate Lighting(around entire house) motion detector on sides will work but entrances should be illuminated at all times Get rid of shrubs against house where an intruder could hide. Buy a camera system with battery back up (exactly same as used for computers) a swann 8 camera system will set you back $500 but you'll be able to play back all 8 cameras for 1 month. put the security stickers on the doors and windows (they will start looking for a camera and when they find one they will leave) crooks don't like their picture taken for some reason. LOL If after all of this, someone were to break into my home, I can assure you, that I am in fear for my life and won't hesitate to put a hole in them. Edited February 12, 2015 by CaptainJoe
