I turned into the entrance to Walmart today and an 82 yr old lady driving a Lincoln Town Car came from the exit from between two fast food restaurants and hit the gas instead of the brakes at the stop sign and knocked me into the curb on the other side blowing the left front tire. I love my 05 hemi Magnum and had planned on keeping it forever. Bought it new. It looks like it may be totaled though since it's 10 yrs old.

Ohhh no that sucks!!! That's a beautiful car too! Especially since youre the original owner. Best of luck with the insurance! I hope they treat you well!!!

I like those cars too it's a shame but your health more valuable.

I had an elderly encounter myself years ago, you kind of feel bad for them.

Seems we have way way to much of that "hit the wrong pedal" stuff down here. I just have a real hard time with that. If they cant keep the pedals sraight maybe they shouldnt drive anymore. A lady down here "accidently" hit the wrong pedal and when the car lunged she floored it. Then made the local chamber of commerce a drive thru like 5 min before a big meeting.

Glad your OK sucks your ride got clobered.

Yeah, When I worked contract at the Crystal River Nuclear Plant, I lived in Homossassa, FL for a year in a subdivision that exited into a 55 zone. Lots of retirees lived there and during the year several elderly people pulled out in 60mph traffic and got killed. I'm sick about my car because it had just turned over 100k miles and several Dodge forum members have 300k miles on theirs. But, nobody was hurt. I have a 2002 F150 Supercab Lariat 4x4 with 133k miles on it that I will drive now and won't replace the Magnum especially if I stay retired. My wife has a new Infiniti EX37 if we need to travel long distance.

From the pics and description the damage looks easily repaired with a fender, couple doors, and new tire with maybe a wheel, and possibly an alignment.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, especially with the area under the door not appearing to be damaged. There have been a lot of improvements in the strength of door pillars over the years and you may be ok there. Can you get the doors open and can you see any distortion on the pillars? Just out of curiosity, does that model have side airbags?

I took a few moments and went on car-part.com and keyed in your information and several doors and fenders came up for 05/08 Dodge Magnums and several were white. If it were me and there was no more apparent damage, I would consider a settlement with her insurance company and fix it myself. I know this is a PITA, but you may be able to come out fine and clear several thousand dollars for your trouble.

Since it is sitting outside in the rain, I don't dare open the doors. I'm afraid they would not close. It looks like the front door is probably leaking anyway since the top is bowed out. Last night I checked Nada and blue book values and retail is just over $9k. I suspect the damage may exceed that at today's body shop prices or at least close enough to total it. I'm not sure I want a repaired car. And at age 70, I don't have the desire to get that far into repairing it myself. There could be suspension damage too since her car hit the right front tire and the left hit the curb and it wasn't just a straight curb. It was curved with a sunken crosswalk so the suspension on that side took quite a beating. There were no side air bags. The surprising thing to me is that the Lincoln's front air bags did not deploy.

Both of the pillars, between the doors and in front of the front door, are pushed in. The adjuster came today and looked at it. Said it would be 2 or 3 days before his supervisor contacted me with the news. I will be surprised if it is not totaled. The right front wheel was hit and the left front tire blew so he included two wheels in the estimate. One blown tire. Since there is only about 1/3 of the tread left, I would not put one new replacement tire on it. I doubt if they will pay for 4 tires though. I suspect it will be Monday before I hear back.

Seriously? Totalled? We have a 2005 Magnum with 180,000 miles and aside from the very noisy front end, we love our 'sport utility' wagon, because "the rod box fits".IMG_0188 (Large).jpgAnd I off road it occasionally. The 20 inch wheels help in the rocks....but not in the snotty mud.

I've only driven it home from the body shop so far and it appears to be just like before the accident. It is quiet and the steering/handling appears to be the same. The doors fit well so I don't expect any leaks. The original repair estimate was just under $4k. It ended up costing the insurance co. just under $6k plus a month of rental car.
