Eck Posted January 31, 2015 #1 Posted January 31, 2015 Computers are like air conditioners. They work fine until you start opening windows
eagleeye Posted February 1, 2015 #2 Posted February 1, 2015 No truer (is that really a word?) words were ever spoken.
Flyinfool Posted February 1, 2015 #3 Posted February 1, 2015 If it werent for walls and fences to slow things down, there would be no use for Windows or Gates.
Yammer Dan Posted February 1, 2015 #4 Posted February 1, 2015 I've tried to throw mine out that window a few times but couldn't get it open when I wanted to!!! :Avatars_Gee_George:
Eddie Posted February 1, 2015 #5 Posted February 1, 2015 I finally made my stupid computer faster; I dropped it out of the window, and it went really fast.
aharbi Posted February 1, 2015 #6 Posted February 1, 2015 Run Linux. I know its been mentioned before. Lots of good easy to use distros available. It has taken me some time but I have found "open source" programs to replace every Windoze program except Garmin Base Camp (which sucks anyway) to do route planning. I use both (depends which computer) Ubuntu 14.04LTS or Knoppix. I also can boot Knoppix from a USB flash drive, load it into memory (I have 64GB) where it runs extremely fast as it uses no disk IO except if I save a file (write to disk). I've also installed it on several old laptops that were running Windoze XP. Linux runs faster/better on these older machines so I haven't had the need to replace them. I carry these in my saddle bags on trips, if they break get lost stolen I'm not out anything.
Cougar Posted February 2, 2015 #7 Posted February 2, 2015 Eck, why the they call it a pair of jeans when you only get one ?
Eck Posted February 2, 2015 Author #8 Posted February 2, 2015 Eck, why the they call it a pair of jeans when you only get one ? So that they can fully cover that pair of underware...........:
