Well you guys may have read a recent post from me gloating about my success with the carb rebuild. Well it turns out I missed something. I noticed it wasnt idleing quite as strongly as I thought it should so I got down and did a real close inspection. If you remove any of the vacuum caps on any of the cylinders the bike starts chugging and about dies, which is normal and is what I'm looking for. However on the back left cylinder (I think this is number one) when I remove the vacuum cap there is no change in RPMs so I did the usual of spraying some WD-40 into the hole thinking maybe I had no spark and VIOLA the engine perked way up and it started running like a dream. Since I cleaned the carbs I guess what I'm going to try first is to remove the pilot screw on that cylinder. Spray a little carb cleaner into and and then give it a shot of compressed air. Hopefully this will wake it up. If it does no good then I'll remove the Air Box and double check the slides to make sure they're operating fine.

The bike seems to have plenty of power, even lots of low end and runs as smoothly down the highway as it used to. So hopefully I dont have to fully remove the carbs to fix this. Any suggestions?

The sliders shouldn't affect the idle should they? May be a vacuum leak on that cylinder. Maybe put part of a bottle of Gumout for high mileage engines in the tank and run it through. It has the same chemical in it that Chevron Techron has and it is very effective.

If all four carbs can be synced together that should prove that they have equal vacuum right? If there was a vacuum leak on that cylinder it should show on my carbtune right?

I'm assuming it was running smooth when you put the carb tune on it? Right? Something happened after that, right? Vacuum leak? plugged pilot jet? fouled plug? Just guessing? Spark related?

Went through carbs myself. Seemed to me to be running like it used to. Turns out "like it used to" wasnt very good :) thinking a piece of dust got in while I bad them apart

All seems to be good in the world. Back left cylinder was out like 5 turns. Turns out all of my pilot jets were WAYYYY off. I wonder who coulda done that?!?!:innocent:

Running at all four at idle. Now just trying to find the best jet settings for me :)
