dynodon Posted December 23, 2009 Share #826 Posted December 23, 2009 come on folks, just find any snow plow (of decent size) or any city truck, got to be a few of them out there, and it isn't snowy or icy everywhere! Everyone have a safe and happy Christmas and New Years.
Scooter Bob Posted January 1, 2010 Share #827 Posted January 1, 2010 "snow plow, parked, junked, not attached to the front of a truck" Are you looking for an out of service, or is an in service ok too? They seem to keep using them around here lately. I'll be heading out for a New Years Ride later and can score a line of them being used this year yet. And, if I get this target, should I just pick something you can get in IL, since we can't seem to get anybody else to play lately?? Scooter Bob Posted January 2, 2010 Share #828 Posted January 2, 2010 Here's your snow plow Don, a big OSHKOSH unit complete with a wing plow. But it's not parked, or junked, they've used it plenty this winter already. It's your call. We put about 30 miles on yesterday, just one other guy and his wife showed up this year for the annual event. It got up to 16 degrees by mid afternoon. KarlS Posted January 2, 2010 Share #829 Posted January 2, 2010 Looks to me like you got the target. I'm still following the hunt but my bike put up until spring when those plows are put away.
dynodon Posted January 4, 2010 Share #830 Posted January 4, 2010 Sorry to be late to reply, but was in Flordia riding a rental HD Electra Glide Ultra! WAY better bike than I expected, lots of fun riding in 80 degree weather in late December. Scooter, you nailed that one! great picture, and you are even riding ON snow! Pick a new target. Scooter Bob Posted January 9, 2010 Share #831 Posted January 9, 2010 Sorry to be late to reply, but was in Flordia riding a rental HD Electra Glide Ultra! WAY better bike than I expected, lots of fun riding in 80 degree weather in late December. Glad you enjoyed the ride. I read your other thread about the bike. I had a 99 classic b4 the RSV. It was a good bike, and I put a little over 50k on it, but if I'd a kept it another year, I would have had to replace belt and pulleys. The thoughts of a break down were taking some of the fun out of riding, if you know what I mean. If you can get over the cassette deck thing, you really need to try a second gen, you'll have the room you're looking for and a more reliable ride. Just my $.02. and you are even riding ON snow! Ya, Karen just about fell on her a$$ when she got out of the truck to take the picture. Later, Scooter Bob The next target is.... You and your bike with a beach in the background. Prefer warm and sunny with sand and blue water, but so everyone can play, I will settle for hard water and snow covered sand as well. Have fun with it... BONUS...I'll buy you a beer at the international if you're wearing your (or anybody else's) swimming suit.
Scooter Bob Posted January 16, 2010 Share #832 Posted January 16, 2010 You gonna get this today, so I have a new target for tomorrow, seeing as how we have this heat wave! dynodon Posted January 16, 2010 Share #833 Posted January 16, 2010 Sorry, was on the road at a STAR chapter meeting in Elgin, IL in the cage. Didn't get back till almost dark, and was too worn out to get the bike out. Supposed to be a bit warmer Sunday, may try then, but we don't have many beaches, snow covered or otherwise here in Cent. IL. Will a boat ramp work? Got lots of those, but not much sand!
Scooter Bob Posted January 17, 2010 Share #834 Posted January 17, 2010 Will a boat ramp work? Got lots of those, but not much sand! If it's covered with snow, I could be led to believe there is sand underneath it! Can you get it posted by noon along with a new target? Later, Scooter Bob The current target is.... dynodon Posted January 17, 2010 Share #835 Posted January 17, 2010 Can't make it by noon, will be afternoon before the freezing FOG lifts and I feel good about getting the bike out. But if conditions allow, I will do my best to get a picture, but really, more than a couple of us need to get involved! Hey, some of you warm weather types, get going! dynodon Posted January 19, 2010 Share #838 Posted January 19, 2010 I wasn't able to get out the other day, and probably won't for some time. Supposed to be nice temps this weekend, but rain a lot. Nice that it is washing away the salt though. the last few days it has been overcast, and foggy with the warm air over the cold snow. This leads to damp roads still with a lot of salt on them. Not a good situation, and the possibility of an icy spot almost anywhere anytime. BUT, as I posted in the "watering hole", all those riders that are in warm areas have no such excuses. Get out and have some fun! Also, this isn't just a US scavenger hunt, it is for the entire world. So anyone that gets a ride, look for the beach and get that picture. Flyinfool Posted January 19, 2010 Share #839 Posted January 19, 2010 Dang the road to the beach is not plowed. I'm chicken to drive the bike down a steep snow/ice covered road with a 100 foot drop if you slide. The 4x4 was no problem. There might be a start or 2 left in my starter clutch. How about me, my truck, at a snow covered beach, in my swimsuit??
dynodon Posted January 23, 2010 Share #840 Posted January 23, 2010 Managed to get the bike out today (Saturday 1-23) in the afternoon. The fog in IL was THICK even in town, and I had no desire to test how bad it was in the country. Roads still wet, not raining, but everything got wet. Took longer to leather up than to take the ride. Just 15 minutes. No beaches in sight though. But the little bit of a ride was enough to brighten my day.

It's supposed to hit 40 today, but it's pouring now, and supposed to turn to snow later. I was hoping for a short ride to the "Boat House" this afternoon. They have a 3 hour endurance motorcycle race on the lake there today. Tried to take the truck out last year, and couldn't find a place to park within a half mile of the bar. Thought if I took the bike, I could sneak it into a little spot up close. Later, Scooter Bob The current target is.... You and your bike with a beach in the background. dynodon Posted January 28, 2010 Share #842 Posted January 28, 2010 Helllooooo out there! Anybody home? Stuck here in Fun & Frivolity we sure are getting the responses huh? Got more snow on the road today so won't be riding (yep, I am a snow/ice panzy on two wheels!) Some of you in warm weather states, go find a beach! If no response in a few days, how about re-setting the target?

dynodon Posted February 9, 2010 Share #845 Posted February 9, 2010 I got a short ride in last week, but didn't get anywhere near water or sand, other than that on the roads around here. Now we have an all-new layer of snow and salt, and it doesn't look like it will be nice for the next couple of weeks. So there is nobody here in warm weather areas that wants to get the latest target? Everlasting fame and joy await those who participate!

It's been a month and a half now... Ok folks, Here's the deal....I plan on riding from here to Daytona, leaving out on the 24th, weather permitting (ie.. no snowstorms or icestorms along the way). If I make the beach, and nobody has scored the target yet, I'll break the rules and score my own target, and then set a new one. Monty Posted February 24, 2010 Share #848 Posted February 24, 2010 Does it have to be a salt water beach, or can it be a fresh water beach, as in a big lake. It doesn't specify.
KarlS Posted February 24, 2010 Share #849 Posted February 24, 2010 I would say it doesn't matter since it can be frozen water with snow on the beach. My

Any beach, anywhere will do. Several of us would be glad to see a new target to look for. You could convince me that just about anything in a picture is "snow covered sand" at this point.
