KiteSquid Posted April 1, 2009 #501 Posted April 1, 2009 I use the New Posts button in the top bar. This way I see the new posts sense my last visit to the forum, but in my user control panel I have some sections filtered out so I don't see posts there. I don't own a 1st Gen Venture so I don't have a need to read the 1st Gen tech section, so I filtered it out along with others. By clicking the New Posts button, I get to see this thread every time it is updated and I don't get a lot of email notifications..... I use this to get to the post I am interested in more quickly.
WilCruise Posted April 1, 2009 #502 Posted April 1, 2009 OK... ok... so it may not be a traditional totem pole but I think it should be considered. I got there today after about 20 mins in the overcast low 40s and found someone to take the picture... The battery died on my camera right there. Best I could do was my phone camera and she couldn't get the whole thing in. In the overcast you can't even see it well. I've included a picture of the plaque (last photo my camera took before dying) and a better likeness from the internet for your approval. Let me know if it qualifies and I'll come up with the next one. If not... so be it - Nice excuse to take a ride
painterman67 Posted April 1, 2009 #503 Posted April 1, 2009 works for me .I've been waiting. No totem poles in NC that I could find . Googled it and all. guess its up to the person who set the goal in the first place. I'll be watching. David

I'll have to remember these tips for organizing the web site, cus I don't have a first gen either. But, the biggest reason I could see for having the thread "STUCK" again is that hopefully more new people would see it and want to play with us. WilCruise, congrats on the TOTEM POLE pic. Hopefully Dan will like it. A little better weather coming our way this Friday and Sat, so we're looking forward the next target. Later, Scooter Bob
Scooter Bob Posted April 3, 2009 #505 Posted April 3, 2009 Dan might not get back off the road till Friday, hard telling. What might the next target be if he likes your TOTEM POLE??? Looks like slightly warmer and a little sunny here Friday and Sat. morning. Really need to get out on the bike again, ya know what I mean.. And I want to play this game some more. Later, Scooter Bob
WilCruise Posted April 3, 2009 #506 Posted April 3, 2009 Assuming he approves... Hmmm... How 'bout a picture of you & your bike in front of a larger-than-life musical instrument. Something you might find in front of a music landmark, nightclub, recording studio, music store or something. Has to be at least 3 or 4+X normal scale to qualify.
painterman67 Posted April 3, 2009 #507 Posted April 3, 2009 Does this musical instrument have to be real or can it be say like a large guitar done in neon on a public building? David
Freebird Posted April 3, 2009 #508 Posted April 3, 2009 That was my question too. I could just ride over to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Of course, that would mean going into downtown Cleveland so I think I'll pass on that idea.
painterman67 Posted April 3, 2009 #509 Posted April 3, 2009 yea I was thinking of the rock-o-la cafe just up the road. David Ps. Glad to hear your spirits are up. I'll be praying for you.

Some of you guys in Biloxi/Gulfport should have this "in the bag". Mosey down to the Hard Rock on 90...
WilCruise Posted April 3, 2009 #511 Posted April 3, 2009 I'll let neon work, it needs to be REALLY big then though.

Greg,I should disqualify that picture because you got the "golden arches" in the background... :rotfl: Your right, that's not like a traditional totem pole like I was thinking, but I got to tell you, that totem pole is really cool looking... :happy34:
WilCruise Posted April 4, 2009 #513 Posted April 4, 2009 I know, it's at a rest stop in Plymouth, MA and I couldn't park at an angle that would miss it and still get the bike in the shot.

I've been all over this state, but can't remember seeing anything like this. I think I better ride around today and look anyway, since 5" of snow coming our way tomorrow Later, Scooter Bob
Scooter Bob Posted April 9, 2009 #516 Posted April 9, 2009 Are all you southern folk going to let another one go to WI?? We'll be leaving this morning to head to my folks in Menomonie for a visit (or maybe it was an excuse to get another 500 miles on in a couple days ) Either way, we'll be looking in the Dells (thanks for the tip Dan) and every other possible town between here and there. We won't be back home to post a pic till Friday night so... The race is on:Venture: Good Luck, Scooter Bob
Cerviperus Posted April 9, 2009 #517 Posted April 9, 2009 I did it, Please vote about sticking this thread again. Thanks, Scooter Bob+1 on the sticky. I keep forgetting about this thread too!
WilCruise Posted April 9, 2009 #518 Posted April 9, 2009 We'll be leaving this morning to head to my folks in Menomonie Nice area - Kohls is a client so I visit their HQ there frequently. Looking forward to seeing who will pull this one in. Thought it was a pretty simple target... guess not

Somebody in Nashville should score this easily...
KiteSquid Posted April 10, 2009 #520 Posted April 10, 2009 Hard Rock Cafe, Does anybody live near Huainan city, Anhui province China????? I found this photo on the Internet http://www.ananova.com/images/web/1107536.jpg No, I am NOT claiming the target, just pointing out a possible target, if we have a Venture Rider in China.......
dynodon Posted April 10, 2009 #521 Posted April 10, 2009 Well there IS a bike and rider in the picture, just not you! I have been wracking my brain (scrambling what little is left) trying to come up with the target around Peoria, IL. No joy so far. Plus it is raining right now!
Scooter Bob Posted April 10, 2009 #522 Posted April 10, 2009 How 'bout a picture of you & your bike in front of a larger-than-life musical instrument. Something you might find in front of a music landmark, nightclub, recording studio, music store or something. Has to be at least 3 or 4+X normal scale to qualify. It 's not where you wanted us to find it, but it's big. It's at a Scrap Metal Sculpture park just south of Baraboo. I can't believe I never heard of this place till yesterday. I'll post a link about the park when we get home. WilCruise , If you like it, the next target is something my dad (a truck driver) says can be found in most areas of the country. So Here Goes... You and your bike and a real life Round Barn in the pic. If not quite round, at least an octagon, we saw one of each on the ride yesterday, so I know they are out there. Good Luck, Scooter Bob and Karen
loehring Posted April 10, 2009 #523 Posted April 10, 2009 I know of one close to here. Too bad the weather sucks. LOL I guess I'll pass.

halfwitt Posted April 11, 2009 #525 Posted April 11, 2009 For anyone going to Gettysburg next weekend, here's a round barn: http://www.roundbarngettysburg.com/
