Dano Posted June 2, 2008 #326 Posted June 2, 2008 isnt that an old pic? ive got state parks around but national is a bit far/ Was wondering if anybody noticed............. Good goin' Mike!!! Not trying to snag a prize, just keepin the thread up top!!!!
dynodon Posted June 2, 2008 #327 Posted June 2, 2008 Plus it didn't say "Welcome To" (just nit picking, if it hadn't been an old pic, I would have voted OK on it!)
halfwitt Posted June 3, 2008 #328 Posted June 3, 2008 I thought this would be fairly easy and an excuse to take a nice ride. Lets make it a state or national park...
Dragonslayer Posted June 3, 2008 #329 Posted June 3, 2008 SInce you've been waiting for so longgggg..........Hey danob11 is that the scoot put back together. How was the project? Did your marriage survive?
Dano Posted June 4, 2008 #330 Posted June 4, 2008 Hey danob11 is that the scoot put back together. How was the project? Did your marriage survive? Nah, as Mike figured out, that's from last fall and is in the calender. Scoots almost done, putting the fairing on her right now, do the stereo and the rest of the electronics. Wifes OK with it, she knew the would be no piece(!) if I didn't have peace to work on the bike. The people getting pissed are my my side work customers!!!! Ain't touched any of it in the last couple of weeks. Kinda' enjoy it. Took the bike out Sunday morning, naked of course. Ran it a little to check the gears and get it warmed up. SYnched the carbs went out again,,,, all I can say is--they better replace some asphalt along that road cause I burnt her up real good!!! Runs like a bat-out-of-h*ll and very smooth thru the gears. Still looks the same, will do major redecorating next year. Gonna be at Dons this weekend. Thanks, Dan
Ferrantelli Posted June 4, 2008 #331 Posted June 4, 2008 Finally have the diamond...the sign is the diamond. If all agree this meets the criteria then the next target is...you, your bike and "Welcome to XXXXX National Forest" - you know, one of those big brown signs as you enter a national forest. Have a good and safe ride! Leave it as is. If by this weekend no has it I will. I will be thought two National Forest this Saturday. BTW it says nothing about the color of the sign. It just has to say "Welcome To _______ National Forest".
WilCruise Posted June 5, 2008 #332 Posted June 5, 2008 Well I just missed this one! I rode from Mass through NH and across VT on my way to Americade and passed a couple. Better hurry Joe or I might just get one tomorrow or on my way to Don's on Friday before you get one Saturday!
Ferrantelli Posted June 5, 2008 #333 Posted June 5, 2008 Those are the ones I am talking about. GREEN MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST in Vermont and WHITE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL FOREST in New Hampshire. I will be at the Americade on Friday and than head East on Saturday.
Ferrantelli Posted June 8, 2008 #334 Posted June 8, 2008 Folks HERE THEY ARE! Both of them. They do not say "WELCOME TO ________". But they are the real thing. The last one is a freebie, that is at the summit of Mt. Washington over 6,000 ft. above sea level. Just in case you are wondering that is the same day. Temp. at the base 86F. at the summit about 40F and some snow still and lots of wind. The highest ever recorded in the world there at 231MPH. The inspiration to the next task, you your bike at a mountain summit with the sign showing name and height. Have fun!!!! That's the most important thing.
dynodon Posted June 9, 2008 #336 Posted June 9, 2008 Lucky, Mt. Illinois is just 1226 feet tall, no snow to worry about! But a little far away from the illinois river valley.
Ferrantelli Posted June 11, 2008 #338 Posted June 11, 2008 You your bike at a mountain summit with the sign showing name and height.
Dragonslayer Posted June 11, 2008 #339 Posted June 11, 2008 Nah, as Mike figured out, that's from last fall and is in the calender. Dragonslayer Posted June 13, 2008 #341 Posted June 13, 2008 Took the bike out Sunday morning, naked of course. Dan I don't do it often but, I have noticed that it is very intimadating riding the bike when I'm Naked. Don't you agree.
WilCruise Posted June 14, 2008 #343 Posted June 14, 2008 OOhhhh! That's why I get all those weird looks! Guess I need one of those 2nd gen quick bag removal kits.
bikerjohn51 Posted June 16, 2008 #344 Posted June 16, 2008 carefull when you start talking about bag removals.......that may hurt:rotf:
MikeM8560 Posted June 22, 2008 #345 Posted June 22, 2008 So what are we looking for now, No mountians around here
Ferrantelli Posted June 22, 2008 #347 Posted June 22, 2008 SO FOLKS, what's the census? Leave the target as is "A SUMMIT" or change it?
Squeeze Posted June 22, 2008 #348 Posted June 22, 2008 SO FOLKS, what's the census? Leave the target as is "A SUMMIT" or change it? Joe, you have to call for a new Target. Of Course you could also recall the Summit Target, it wouldn't be against the Rules, but a setting a new Goal might be better than redo a achieved one.
KingSizer Posted June 22, 2008 #349 Posted June 22, 2008 no mountains around here either. how about a picture of me, my bike, in my garage, with a wrench in my hand? now there's a picture i can get...
dynodon Posted June 23, 2008 #350 Posted June 23, 2008 Been long enough, let the last person to get one, set another target?
