ragtop69gs Posted September 7, 2014 #2354 Posted September 7, 2014 Darn...I'm surrounded by dry river beds!!! This is the desert! Phooey... In your case we'll take you your bike and a sand storm! Lol A dry river I guess if thats all ya got it better be impressive ! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
videoarizona Posted September 7, 2014 #2355 Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) A dry river I guess if thats all ya got it better be impressive !> Uh...nope...beds are small around here. Don't know how I could ride into one to get a picture... Sandstorm? Thankfully I don't live in Phoenix anymore. Got real tired of cleaning the driveway, boat and pool each time!! But thanks for the thought, Jay! Joe...maybe tomorrow. It's too hot around here now. Have to ride in early mornings. I can't take the heat any more. Guess my built-in "air conditioning" isn't working like it used to! david Edited September 7, 2014 by videoarizona Add
ragtop69gs Posted September 7, 2014 #2356 Posted September 7, 2014 Uh...nope...beds are small around here. Don't know how I could ride into one to get a picture... No rivers with water
videoarizona Posted September 8, 2014 #2357 Posted September 8, 2014 > Water evaporates fast...(it's a dry heat) ...unless there is a downpour, then it runs and floods for a few hours....gradually getting absorbed or evaporates. So very few "rivers" actually have water in them year around. We do have a few that run underground for miles....that is strange... I've been researching...there is a river that runs year around about 100 miles away, but don't know if I can get there from here without taking all day. And since we are in our "monsoon" season....I don't want to be caught out in a storm on the bike. So.....probably not a destination right now.

Hope y'all are doing ok.
videoarizona Posted September 9, 2014 #2359 Posted September 9, 2014 I hear y'all have had a "little" rain the last few days. Hope y'all are doing ok. Yep...no problem down here. Phoenix had highest rainful in one day, ever! Tucson got hit a few hours ago.... I'm under partly cloudy skies right now.... If it was cooler, I'd ride out to the Santa Cruz...bet it's flowing right now! Can be a stream to a huge flooded river....just depends upon rain! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Cruz_River_(Arizona) Thanks for asking!
ragtop69gs Posted September 15, 2014 #2360 Posted September 15, 2014 Really Guy's ! is nobody riding their bikes ? How hard could it be to get a picture of a river ?
videoarizona Posted September 15, 2014 #2361 Posted September 15, 2014 Really Guy's ! is nobody riding their bikes ? How hard could it be to get a picture of a river ? I'm not riding in the sand on an 800 pound scoot just to get a picture of a sandy dry wash. Nope! I'm waiting for the next target....maybe I'll have better luck!
etcswjoe Posted September 15, 2014 #2362 Posted September 15, 2014 Rained here everyday for the last three weeks and since I own a Harley now I can't ride it in the rain.
Kc9ojn Posted September 16, 2014 #2363 Posted September 16, 2014 Well there is the Great IL River me and my Awesome 88 VR . Nice Ride up to Grand View Drive In Peoria IL. Well Lets Go for , You , Your Bike and a Train engine Can be a play ground thing or in some Museum or parked on the tracks. Be safe.
etcswjoe Posted September 16, 2014 #2364 Posted September 16, 2014 Great pic, I think I rode along that same river back in the spring about 300 miles south of you.
etcswjoe Posted September 16, 2014 #2366 Posted September 16, 2014 I forgot to ask do you want just the engine or the whole locomotive? If I take my daughter with me to find one she will ask when I tell her what the target is.
Kc9ojn Posted September 16, 2014 #2367 Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) If you have the whole train that is fine but you have to at least have the engine you and your bike. There is a lot of them in my area. http://www.wheelsotime.org is a Museum up the hill from me, as well as some playgrounds in the area. Have fun with it and in the spirit of the game, Get out and ride. I have just got back into riding, My youngest is now 15 and I stopped riding when she was 5. I was coming home from Grand View Dr after getting that shot and I saw a huge flock of cranes riding the wind. I would have missed it if I was in a car. I love being back on 2 wheels and seeing and smelling things. http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o190/techee28714/Oldandno.jpg Edited September 16, 2014 by Kc9ojn
ragtop69gs Posted September 17, 2014 #2368 Posted September 17, 2014 NICE River shot ! I have a few ideas on this target. Now to find time to go get it.
videoarizona Posted September 20, 2014 #2369 Posted September 20, 2014 Well...took the VR out early this morning. My normal Saturday 2 hour run. Went down to the RR tracks nearest me...no trains! Usually, they keep a long string of empty cars with 2 to 6 engines on the siding every other week. Nothing this time. Wonder if the derailment last week screwed up all the schedules?? So no dice for me TODAY....I'll keep my eyes wondering!
etcswjoe Posted September 21, 2014 #2370 Posted September 21, 2014 After 6 hours of riding today finally found a couple of Train Engines.
videoarizona Posted September 22, 2014 #2371 Posted September 22, 2014 Good job, Joe! So what's the next target???
Kc9ojn Posted September 22, 2014 #2372 Posted September 22, 2014 Awesome job , what are we after next.
