ragtop69gs Posted September 25, 2011 #1601 Posted September 25, 2011 You, Your Bike and a Mom and Pop sporting goods place no chain stores. Good Hunting Is there one left in America ?
etcswjoe Posted September 25, 2011 #1602 Posted September 25, 2011 Is there one left in America ? All over the place form here to back home in VA, but it does seem like independents are all dying out.
ragtop69gs Posted September 26, 2011 #1603 Posted September 26, 2011 All over the place form here to back home in VA, but it does seem like independents are all dying out. Would a bait shop qualify as a "sporting goods shop" ?
etcswjoe Posted September 26, 2011 #1604 Posted September 26, 2011 Would a bait shop qualify as a "sporting goods shop" ? I guess fishing is a sport.
Scooter Bob Posted October 1, 2011 #1605 Posted October 1, 2011 I guess fishing is a sport. Ya, but we just did that one a few months ago...see post #1415 and beyond... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20503&page=95 But I'll keep lookin' for other options. Later, Scooter Bob
straycatt Posted October 3, 2011 #1606 Posted October 3, 2011 Well, I don't know about "Mom and Pop" but it's definitely not a chain store. Found in the little Mid Michigan town of St John. I even waved..... http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a373/gat803/Octoberride2011012.jpg
ragtop69gs Posted October 3, 2011 #1607 Posted October 3, 2011 Good job. I was going out tomorrow to get a pic, you beat me to it. Whats next ?
straycatt Posted October 3, 2011 #1608 Posted October 3, 2011 The next target is......you, your bike, and a grain elevator. The bigger and/or older, the better.
etcswjoe Posted October 3, 2011 #1609 Posted October 3, 2011 The next target is......you, your bike, and a grain elevator. The bigger and/or older, the better. Sounds like a good target to me, just have to wear my long johns it got cold fast.
dynodon Posted October 3, 2011 #1610 Posted October 3, 2011 Yes, nice pic on the sport store. Grain elevator, I know the one I want to get a pic of, just have to get there!
Flyinfool Posted October 3, 2011 #1611 Posted October 3, 2011 I know of a great old grain elevator that is probably getting used daily right now. But it would be a 2 or 3 day ride for me to get there on the bike and my trailer in not back together yet.
Scooter Bob Posted October 3, 2011 #1612 Posted October 3, 2011 Dang the luck. Work is gonna pay me to ride 1-1/2 hours each way to attend a trade show in Milwaukee tomorrow. There happens to be a huge one near Johnson Creek that just might be right on my way home.
dynodon Posted October 3, 2011 #1613 Posted October 3, 2011 Here is an old retired or tired grain elevator in Allentown, IL near Mackinaw. A friend of ours used to own this, wanted to restore it and turn it into a residence, but the economy downturn foiled that plan. Probably will be torn down very soon. Nice ride though, about 20 miles mid-70's sunny and little wind. If approved, and in time, I will set a new target. Looks like only one pic will thumbnail, so the other one has me in the mirror.

Looks good to me. That would have been one expensive restoration!
dynodon Posted October 3, 2011 #1615 Posted October 3, 2011 OK, how about you, your bike and something to do with space travel, rockets, science fiction space events/travel. The "rocket Motel" but it has to have some image that looks like space, rockets, flying saucers, other planets (even the moon, but a planet with rings is worth extra points!) etc. Lots to work with here. Go out and travel to the stars! (Just a stylized star * won't do though!).
straycatt Posted October 4, 2011 #1616 Posted October 4, 2011 Wow, that was quick...and a great old piece of history. Nice pic.
Scooter Bob Posted October 4, 2011 #1617 Posted October 4, 2011 Ya mean something like this I found last spring? http://tapatalk.com/mu/a6b50227-6f4a-c3f9.jpg Later, Scooter Bob

Flyinfool Posted October 4, 2011 #1620 Posted October 4, 2011 And the problem is? My trailer is still not back together yet. where would I put my camping gear......
dunvilsteev Posted October 4, 2011 #1621 Posted October 4, 2011 Sure hope this counts towards the space posting, I even wore my Mr. Gazoo helmet just for the occasion!
twigg Posted October 4, 2011 #1622 Posted October 4, 2011 My trailer is still not back together yet. where would I put my camping gear...... lol ... A toothbrush and a credit card ... Stick them in a fairing pocket. Motel 6 is very nice
dynodon Posted October 4, 2011 #1623 Posted October 4, 2011 Badda Bing, Badda Boom! Nice one! Two in two days! Yes, Steve, that does the trick, unless anyone else objects, name the next target!
dunvilsteev Posted October 4, 2011 #1624 Posted October 4, 2011 The next target is : you, your bike and an Oktoberfest sign (beer stein etc.)
