Sounds like they are getting a handle on it and, THANKFULLY, did so before someone got hurt!! It would be interesting to know how Polaris is handling the repair.. Are they replacing bearings or complete components? Cant imagine that the rack and pinion is something they produce in house,, probably an outsourced gear rack that their supplier got a bad batch of bearings for.. They will have it all sorted out by Spring and those evil looking Bat Mobiles will be running all over the place!!!:big-grin-emoticon::thumbsup:

CANT WAIT TO EVEN SEE ONE!!:bluesbrother:

At the Slingshot forum it's been said the entire rack & pinion will be replaced for all units sold to date. Apparently the vendor didn't heat treat the ball bearings to a hard enough rating so they were starting to fail. Only two known complete failures to date with no serious accidents involved. It's good to see Polaris taking this approach rather than a piecemeal repair to units as they fail.

I don't have much mileage on mine due to winter here but will be stopping by my dealership this evening and setting up an appointment to get this done. Only good thing from my perfective is that I can't ride for another month or so , so it should be done by the time I'm ready to hit the road.
