rbig1 Posted January 20, 2015 #1 Posted January 20, 2015 well my green manual I bought online a few years back. The two pages that describe how to adjust valves are blank on main part. The manuals on here wont open for me. Don't know whats up with them. I found the spread sheet for valve clearances the shim chart wont print. What do I do. While I have faring off again thought I'd check them. Never done this on this engine. pic or pointers please.
videoarizona Posted January 20, 2015 #2 Posted January 20, 2015 Rodney, Search the archives. About two months ago (or so) one of us posted links for a Canadian series of videos on the 1st gen's. The second (#2) video has engine work and I think it includes the valves. Kind of old and grainy....but does give a pretty good idea. The manuals here are in pdf format. Almost all PC's will open them. Adobe Reader Download | Free PDF viewer for Windows, Mac OS, Android The only other avenue would be to search the archives for "valve adjustment". I would be really surprised if there isn't a post with pictures and more of one of our members doing a valve adjustment and documenting it for us.... Check back and let us know how you faired after this.... david

But this link is for the videos I was talking about. Also, a member from Spain, "Nacho".... usually takes pics and posts them when he works on bike. I saw one of his pics about using the proper socket top turn the engine by hand (32mm)...using the big nut not the little one... david

rbig1 Posted January 21, 2015 Author #6 Posted January 21, 2015 Thanks that is what I needed. Hope none are out spec. Is that tool still available to buy. Let alone the shims. Need to replace cover gaskets while at it, look like first ones. This site is great
Flyinfool Posted January 21, 2015 #7 Posted January 21, 2015 If you buy your parts from Skydoc_17 he has a shim kit with tool that he loans out. Or there is someone on here selling the valve shim tool.......
rbig1 Posted January 21, 2015 Author #8 Posted January 21, 2015 thanks will give him a shout. First going to check and see how bad off.
