Future reference, maybe.

 

Sorry don't have time to read all the responces. Before you do much more work I would purge the radiator and cooling system of all the air.

These new cooling systems are a closed system and if there are air pockets in the block or radiator it will cause what you are describing.

I had almost the same issue with my ford f150 and a mechanic told me to get the vehicle nose on a steep incline and run it with the radiator

cap off several minutes making sure the thermostate opened to let any air escape through the block into the radiator and out, adding fluid if

it or as it needed. Some vehicle have a purge valve for this issue to clear the air pockets. Also keep an eye on the temp gauge to made sure you don't over heat the motor. That was 6 yrs ago and it's still running great with

178,000 miles.
