Big Auggie Posted January 9, 2015 #1 Posted January 9, 2015 My bike is pushing 76,000 and I've never messed with the air drier. I read somewhere u can remove the desiccant and dry it back out in a low heat oven. Has anyone tried that?
Karaboo Posted January 9, 2015 #2 Posted January 9, 2015 It does work. Just the way you described. If you download the manual it shows everything pretty clearly. Hardest for me was getting clearance under the trunk to pull the canister. Not really hard, I just didn't want to do it.
bongobobny Posted January 12, 2015 #3 Posted January 12, 2015 The purpose of the drier is to keep moisture out of the air pump system so it is kind of an important maintenance job...
dna9656 Posted January 17, 2015 #4 Posted January 17, 2015 I used desiccant from inside boxes that contain merchandise; you know that stuff they don't want you to eat? "DO NOT EAT" on those little envelopes... everytime I see one I have an irresistible urge to eat one....you can get desiccant at Wal-Mart or other like stores....
86er Posted January 18, 2015 #5 Posted January 18, 2015 I've done mine a number of times. Hardest part is emptying the trunk and taking it off! As I recall, you push down on the top of the desiccant can and remove a retainer. I believe there is a spring in there too. When you get the desiccant out, just put it in a bowl and put that in the microwave for 30 seconds a pop. When it all changes color (blue to pink or pink to blue I'm old and forget!) it is done.
