Wesley G Posted February 3, 2015 Author #26 Posted February 3, 2015 Thanks for the schematic, that should make things easier. Can I get to all of the bolts to remove the chrome cover and tighten the valve cover bolts by just removing the tank? Or will I need to take more stuff off?
Du-Rron Posted February 3, 2015 #27 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Just the tank for the back two cylinders. For the front take off the engine to frame straps on both sides, fairing lowers, airfilter boxes and brake resiviour. (don't know how to spell resivor) Keep the chrome pieces in order when you take them off so that you can remember where they go back on. Also, there is a small -chrome wing- -deflector thingy- that is not shown in the drawing and that should go on top of the left rear cylinder. Edited February 3, 2015 by Du-Rron
Wesley G Posted February 3, 2015 Author #28 Posted February 3, 2015 Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to tackle it as soon as I have some extra time.
MikeWa Posted February 6, 2015 #29 Posted February 6, 2015 Sometimes the valve cover bolts are just loose. I would check that first. Mike
Flyinfool Posted February 7, 2015 #30 Posted February 7, 2015 Be very careful tightening the valve cover bolts. They are shoulder bolts and if over tightened WILL snap off in the head. Do not tighten them past the recommended torque (10Nm - 7.2 ft lb).
Wesley G Posted February 7, 2015 Author #31 Posted February 7, 2015 Yeah I sure am hoping the head bolts are just loose. I'm still looking for time to dig into it. I've only had the bike a couple months and still haven't had the tank off yet. Right now I'm trying to figure out how I can reroute my throttle cables since I just installed the baron risers.
