Trader Posted December 23, 2014 #1 Posted December 23, 2014 we are putting a large screen tv in our hall. all the inputs to the amp are full so we are thinking of sharing the rca type input currently used by a laptop to play music tv and music would never be on at same time thesound desk requires about 100 ft of wire from tv not too worried about concert hall quality sound...we use standard ceiling type speakers. can we run rca output from tv 100 ft to shared rca input to amp?
etcswjoe Posted December 23, 2014 #2 Posted December 23, 2014 If you are splitting them and having them hooked up at the same time you may run into issues, also cheap cables will give you greater attenuation.
DMW Posted December 23, 2014 #3 Posted December 23, 2014 100 ft. No problem with decent cable. You need to use a audio switcher, if you leave the audio output from the laptop hooked up it will degrade the signal for it will change the impedance on that input and vice-versa. You can find some reasonable priced switch on line, also you can buy a 100ft. RCA cable. Check out Markertek.com, b&hphoto. If you buy a cable and switcher that has the composite video and your TV has composite video in (yellow), you could send pictures from laptop to TV. Just a thought.
