baylensman Posted December 17, 2014 #1 Posted December 17, 2014 Boy child called me. Bike is jumping out of first gear. Told him to start in 2nd a feather till we look it over. Then he call's back and lets me know that flid is running of of the clutch master. ARRGHH. I have a rebuild kit coming for the clutch master. Don't know if thats why the tranny was acting up or not. Any advice on either issue would be aprreciated. Both my son and I ride bike as primary transportation. So if it goes down he's down.
Flyinfool Posted December 17, 2014 #2 Posted December 17, 2014 NUMBER 1 If fluid is running out of the master, that is brake fluid. It will destroy all paint and plastic that it touches. Is the master over filled and over flowing, can you see the level in the sight glass? Can he tell where it is coming out of the master? Loose hose connection? Out the top? out by the handle end?
baylensman Posted December 17, 2014 Author #3 Posted December 17, 2014 i know that it's brake fluid . told him to clean it right away with soup and water and wrap a rag around the joint, to protect paint. fluid coming out lever side according to his description.
Flyinfool Posted December 17, 2014 #4 Posted December 17, 2014 If the cup failed it is likely due to a pitted bore. If the bore is pitted enough to be leaking you will most likely be looking for a new master. I do not see how the clutch issue could cause it to jump out of 1st gear. If anything, clutch issues make it hard to get out of first and into neutral.
