Rick Haywood Posted December 14, 2014 #1 Posted December 14, 2014 The wife and I are headed for San Antonio in March for a couple days and then to the Texas Hill country for 3/4 days for some riding then over to Austin for a couple days. Any suggestions of things to see and do in Austin and must roads to ride in the Hill Country area? Have friends in San Anton to help there. Thanks Rick & Shirley
mirider Posted December 14, 2014 #2 Posted December 14, 2014 If you get over to the Fredricksburg area, Granite Mountain north of town is a neat experience and Luckenbach is a short drive as well as th LBJ National Park.
leo3wheel Posted December 14, 2014 #3 Posted December 14, 2014 Fredericksburg area is very nice. Attached photos from my ride this past April.
CMCOFFEY Posted December 15, 2014 #4 Posted December 15, 2014 Tell your friends from SA to take you out to Leaky by way of bandera. I alway had breakfast at OST (old Spanish trail) in bandera. The potato, sausage, egg and cheese breakfast taco is great. I am jealeous, the riding out there is great.
Gary N. Posted December 15, 2014 #5 Posted December 15, 2014 Mary and I will be in Kerrville then. We'd be happy to show you around the area. We've been to Austin once on the bike and I don't think I care to do that again. Way too much traffic for me. But if you go you have to check out the Broken Spoke Saloon The Broken Spoke - Best Honky Tonk Music in Texas and we also like Hills Café Live Music - Austin Restaurant - Hill's Cafe
cowpuc Posted December 15, 2014 #6 Posted December 15, 2014 I would definitely catch Big Bend NP if it were possible - NICE,, really really NICE!!! Hope you folks have a BLAST down there,, those Texans - they are really great people!!!
bikerjohn Posted December 15, 2014 #7 Posted December 15, 2014 THE THREE SISTERS ARE A HILL COUNTRY Most ride 335 336 and 337 pick up 337 out of Kerrville from 16 let me know when your here and depending on work schedule i might be able to ride some with you.
Gray Ghost Posted December 15, 2014 #8 Posted December 15, 2014 Just east of Fredericksburg on 290 is a wildflower shop where they grow their own wildflowers for seeds. If you happen to drive by when they are blooming it is an incredible site. The Alamo Springs Cafe near Fredericksburg is a neat place as well.
