Tom Posted March 22, 2008 #1 Posted March 22, 2008 For anyone that has been wondering how the Diamond R Hidden Trailer Hitch looks and ease of install here it is..Remove 4 bolts that hold cross bar under rear fender,Remove the bar and reinstall the New bar that is the hitch and bolt it back together per the SIMPLE enclosed direction,( Reuse two of the bolts taken off and use the two NEW bolts supplied.) It is that simple and looks great. Seems to be VERY strong. Tom (Pics Attched)
Stratcat Posted March 22, 2008 #2 Posted March 22, 2008 Very cool looks great too! Thanks for the review
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 24, 2008 #3 Posted March 24, 2008 Looks great, but why did you mount it on the FRONT of the bike???? Clear/white lights are on the front..not the BACK...right? Just razzin ya.
Tom Posted March 24, 2008 Author #4 Posted March 24, 2008 Well I am different! Here is the new trailer BTW..
Guest tx2sturgis Posted March 24, 2008 #5 Posted March 24, 2008 Thats an Alumalite Trailer, isnt it? I have a buddy who pulled one behind his 1800 GoldThing all the way from Farmington, NM, to Florida, then back across the USA to Alaska, then down the left coast, and back to NM....he said it did great!! Only problem he had, was his riding buddies kept buyin souveniers and sticking them in the trailer! Put a lock on it!
Eck Posted March 24, 2008 #6 Posted March 24, 2008 I'm having one made right now that is very simular. The guy should have it done when I get back from the Natchez Trace ride. I want to keep my rear mud flap on, so I want the hitch to go under the mud flap and then up into the reciever, where as if you had a mud flap on yours, the mud flap would be crimped or bent out of shape when ever install the hitch because yours is so close to the chrome fender edge trim... Same thing really but the part that goes up behind your fender (hidden part) will be longer on mine. Mine will also adapt my cooler carrier (or a future trailer...hush...)

Has the Torsion axle, LED lights and 175 LBS. Pulls fantastic! In case anyone is interested The people here in San Antonio area were all wanting 2100 and up Dollars..Got it from these folks for 1499 plus 240 shipping. http://www.thomasamerican.com/trailers.asp They were the cheapest I could find and it is a 2009 model. Ive seen alot of Wings pulloing them and it fits my needs.
Roadhand Posted March 27, 2008 #8 Posted March 27, 2008 Both the hitch & the trailer look good Tom. Now I will be able to purchase items along the way when we do get a chance to ride and you can haul them for me! We need to get together with the wives and have a lunch sometime soon. Jim
Tom Posted March 27, 2008 Author #9 Posted March 27, 2008 Will do Jim..I have been busy with my Dad.I may be posting info on how to rebuild a Evinrude XP 175 outboard..That will be an original on here! Tom (Will call soon)
V-4 Vendetta Posted March 12, 2009 #10 Posted March 12, 2009 Hi, I am considering buying the Diamond R hitch but am concerned about the safety chain mounts. In the event the trailer pops off the hitch won't the chains damage your rear fender given the attachment up inside the fender? Thanks...

In the event the trailer pops off the hitch won't the chains damage your rear fender given the attachment up inside the fender? Thanks... Can modify that easy by putting an oval ring that hangs down from there..however if the trailer popped off the hitch at all I kinda think alot of things would be messed up in the end...Also,a mud flap can be used without crimping the flap..fits great behind the hitch..I will enclose a picture if I find one

IMHO, if you damage the rear fender, that is the least of your worries....

Monsta Posted March 13, 2009 #15 Posted March 13, 2009 Nice hitch! Personally, I like my ball hanging out in the wind.
BEER30 Posted March 13, 2009 #16 Posted March 13, 2009 I've been using the Diamond R (Cheyenne) hitch for quite some time . It's a good hitch and easy to put on . The bolts have never loosen up on mine since I first mounted it . I check the mounting bolts periodically . I use safety cables rather than chains and thread them around the outer frame bars under the saddle bags (cannot remember what they are called) being the cables are long . Loop them around and back into the trailer hitch . You will get a rattle from the hitch when going over bumps at low speeds , so do not get alarmed . Only downfall is if you wish to remove the hitch , you will have to lay down to reach up under the fender to locate the release pin . Other than that , a great hitch . My next project is to make a flag pole/s adapter to mate to this hitch . BEER30
