Chaharly Posted December 10, 2014 #1 Posted December 10, 2014 Hey guys! Getting ready to do the valve job and carb clean and I see I've got cracks in my intakes. I know they don't leak and aren't known for failing but I'm thinking about putting some of that spray on rubber sealant just for good measure. You guys think this will be an effective fix or will I just be wasting my time/money?
steamer Posted December 10, 2014 #2 Posted December 10, 2014 When you remove the carb's look at the tops of the joints. If they are cracked all the way through where the carb's set in the joints, then you should probably replace them. the rest of the manifold/joint has a metal sleeve sandwiched between the rubber and will not leak. coating them can't hurt.
smlogan Posted December 11, 2014 #3 Posted December 11, 2014 just a note...when I did my 96 RS I didn't have any noticeable leaks and none that showed up with oxy act but made a difference after I replaced them
