I am in the process of modifying a 09 venture. I currently own a 96 that has been severely upgraded...everything short of the vmax rear end cause I cant find one reasonable and I will never sell that bike. I have removed the lower fairing and installed barons big bar. While I like the venture I cant like the football helmets to protect your feet.. they gotta go. Trouble is there is a bunch of electrical contained there. Has anybody else done this? I know lots of people try and upgrade the tour for the bags and comfort of the venture but I cant find where people have modified the other way. I removed the AIS and the massive air box and installed 4 K&N filters so I have some real estate avail. Comments

I rode mine with the lower fairings off and the extra air flow into the intake made it run like crap, no power and backfire at 35+ mph.

I did the filters like I did on the 96 and it runs really strong. The 4 independent filters under the tank eliminate the turbulence and forced air. Its all about the junk that I don't want to lose in the fairings like the cruise and sound equipment. Pic attached of modified filters.IMG_0589.jpg

I talked with Tank 2 summers ago, about this mod, lots of work extending wires and tucking things in. Most of the stuff was put into the upper fairing.

Somewhere in these 3 hard drives is an email he sent me detailing the process. If I can locate it I'll send you a copy.
