A beautiful but cold morning with the sun shining and a light mist on the lake. Just finished watching two eagles chasing a duck on the lake. Every time the duck came up the eagles would go for it. Twice they scored a hit but all they got was feathers. The duck kept diving and finally got away. I have watched them going after fish before but this is the first time I have seen them chase a duck.

I've seen that here as well on the lake only there was just 1 eagle after the duck. The chase seem to last forever and I believe the duck outlasted the eagle. It was amazing to watch. Have also seen an eagle take a duckling swimming with the rest of the little ones. Mother Nature is not for the feint of heart! Doug

Eagles follow the goose migration through our area. It is something to see when the eagles "buzz" the geese when they are sitting on the water in the local refuge. Sometimes upwards of 50,000 or more geese will get up off the water leaving the weak/tired ones as prey for the eagles. Easy pickings for the eagles, and fun to watch all the geese get up all at once. I've seen flocks of geese get up that take up at least a 1/2 mile of water, and that's a lot more than 50,000. You feel bad for the ones that the eagles get, but that's mother nature at work I guess.

I think the Bald Eagles we have here in Ontario are all cowards!!!! They seem to be always getting beat up by little birds!!!!! But there's hope!!! There's a Golden Eagle living in the area now!!!

The best I've seen is when the hawks swoop down and take a bird off the bird feeder. It turns out it's a bird feeder in more ways then one! BUT my most favorite is when they go after the black squirrels!!!!
